Update 1
OlPapaCain, 8 years ago
I decided the Demonlord of Ashmouth weren't working out so I removed both of them, along with one Ridgescale Tusker and I added in 3 Hand of Cruelty to give it a little bit more defense ate the beginning.
Paradox engine
Falseward, 8 years ago
I recently acquired a copy of Paradox Engine, and i can safely confirm that the card is insano-busted in commander. It lays on the gas pedal for the deck, speeding the average win by between two and three turns over the previous average, and making jeskai ascendency look like a chump card in comparison. The deck is getting more streamlined as i work with it, and kaladesh was a very good set for artifacts in general, but the deck is still in need of some tweaks.
Remnants of a less-efficient eggs shell (haha) remain, and I am still looking to tighten up the counter suite and wishboard. The recent addition of Burning Wish to the deck allows me to run some old cards which I liked but had to cut due to them being awful draws in early turns, and I'm still looking to fill the last five slots of the wishboard with non-redundant sorceries, or perhaps a package for Cunning Wish. I'm not convinced the slot wouldn't be better filled with a counterspell though.
Further updates to come.
Randsome, 8 years ago
Grand Coliseum --> Forbidden Orchard (upgrade)
Throne of the High City --> Dust Bowl (most of the time it appears i don't have an opportunity to activate the Throne, while this land seemed like a lot of fun and utility, so i want to try it out. Possible, that there is no need for Streep Mine now then)
Lonely Sandbar --> Tolaria West (seems i have enough value and utility lands to utilize another tutor)
Simic Growth Chamber --> City of Brass (upgrade, though i really wanted to cut some black source. Also, possible that this should've stayed in considering not so big amount of lands)
Thornwood Falls --> Magus of the Library (i guess, i have enough ramp to cut one land and want to try out this guy and he already showed himself pretty well together with Museon the table)
Elvish Mystic --> Elves of Deep Shadow (green generally seems more important, though probably they both should've stayed in)
Walking Atlas --> Skyshroud Ranger (upgrade)
Deprive --> Forbid (this seems like a better counter in most cases)
Sea Gate Oracle --> Wood Elves (though i liked Sleight of Hand, ramp is probably better)
Acidic Slime --> Unravel the Aether (want to try this change - it's cheaper, is findable with Muddle card:the Mixture and can remove gods)
Coiling Oracle --> Baleful Strix (though it doesn't ramp, it should protect me better, i guess)
Solemn Simulacrum --> Skullclamp (it seems i've got quite a few 1 toughness creatures, so this should be a good opportunity into new cards)
Show and Tell --> Disallow (after these changes i'm not sure that i have enough targets for SaT, while there is always a need for more counters)
Zendikar Resurgent --> Declaration of Naught (Resurgent seemed to be too mana intensive most of the time and wana try blue "commander hate")
Lightning Greaves --> Day's Undoing (i'm pretty sure that i want to play DU, but not so sure that Greaves should be cut for it)
Lumbering Falls --> Botanical Sanctum (forgot that this was a thing i had and could do)

8 Man FNM
Ihazadeck, 8 years ago
Played in a small 8 man event and X-0. It wasnt a bad meta, there were some good decks. I think i got lucky with some of my pairings and draws.
Rnd 1, faced Titan Breach, won in 3. I punted game 1 with a big ol' misplay but it was the very first time i play the deck but i should have known because i have been the archetype for some time just not with this build. Anyways, it was a good match, i had a fast start and they had a rough start to game 3. Also blew them out big games 2 and 3 with brave the elements for anger. Also in game 2, i had to fight through 3 kitchen finks on my opponents side. game swung to my favor the moment i drew into Scavenging Ooze and them not hitting land drops.
Rnd 2, faced Mono-Green Stompy, won in 2. I played a ton of mono-g stomp on mtgo, actually still play it occasionally. I know how the deck works, they normally have 3 creatures and try to protect there creatures. so i figured i am going to play this like most agro decks, i have bigger creatures so i will be on defense. they run less creatures and pump spells. I figured i would block until his hand is spent and try to win with what i have left. my creatures are matched very well vs his. Voice of Resurgence makes my attacks better when they are on defense and thats what happened. Loxodon Smiter being bigger than most of his creatures is also clutch. I had a multiple Kitchen Finks which also helps when wanting to block.
Rnd 3, faced Mono-Green Devotion, won in 2. i had some very fast starts, them not wanting to block to preserve mana dorks is a bonus when having multiple exalted triggers. Both games he had to primal command bounce vial or a land and gain 7, i had to fight through that. I had some timely Ghost Quarter draws that got me to neutered his nykthos. I think he either kept greedy hands or i just had a aggressive good curve.
I just play big ol' dumb creatures that multi colored, but they stack very well versus certain creature strategies or have certain abilities or stats that make it hard for certain decks to deal with. I had good pairings, good draws, good plays and good amount of luck(huge factor since i am a scrub).

FNM Modern Side Games
MattStar, 8 years ago
Lucky me! From the release of MM17 I was able to pick up all the fetch lands I was previously missing, so the deck is officially complete in paper. Got knocked out of Draft in single elimination after 3 hilarious games 15 minutes into match 1. Played a bunch of friendly modern matches against 2 peeps:
0-2 against infect
2-1 against Death's Shadow Jund
1-0 Sideboard against DSJ Sideboard
Yeah, I got nothing against infect, as long as they get unblockability I am straight pickled. Without access to reliable removal in the mainboard just gotta move to sideboard and hope for the best.
DSJ was pretty easy, even utilizing either mainboard or sideboard strats and less than perfect play. Ate removal and chump blocked all day, dropped Splinterfright and simply had the biggest threat in town. Left Nighthowler in after sideboarding and actually won with a pumped crab after milling all of the opposition's relevant threats and answers.
But the most important thing is that the deck is just loads of fun to play :D

Went to an fnm
Wonky.wombat., 8 years ago
So, I went to an fnm, and my sideboard wasn't how I have it shown, as I didn't have time to buy the cards, but here is how it went.
-
2/0 against a sort of G/B eldrazi ramp deck, it ran eldrazi temples, reality smashers, and matter reshapers were the noticeable cards, but it also ran the usual package of discard, removal, that stuff. Basically, game 1 I ran it over before it managed to stick anything more than a Matter Reshaper, game 2, they played a Reality Smasher, but I Goblin Grenadeed it, pitching a mountain, then I killed them.
-
1/2 against blue moon. Game 1, I was very aggressive, but then, when they were at 1, they Cryptic Commanded, tapping down all of my stuff, and countering my bushwhacker, and then Snapcaster Mageand Mana Leaked until they had stabilized and then they killed me. Game 2, as I thought it was delver at this point, I brought in my forked bolts. I won this one, because, they Anger of the Godsed me, but I was holding onto enough things that I was able to kill them soon afterwards. Game three I had a pretty bad start, and drew poorly, and they used Anger of the Gods to kill all of my stuff, and Torrential Gearhulk to beat me to death.
-
1/2 against mono-white hatebears. Game 1 they drew pretty poorly and played only a Thraben Inspector and a Leonin Arbiter and I ran them over with a Goblin Piledriver and Legion Loyalist and some other stuff. Game 2 they got three Blade Splicers and 2 Flickerwisps and I drew 5 lands and they destroyed me, then in game three, I brought in the forced bolts, but they got a ton of first strike creatures in Blade Splicer tokens and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and removed my legion loyalist, so they used those to hold down the ground, while they beat down with a Flickerwisp.
Overall, I think I did OK, my match record was 1/2, but my game record was 4/4, and I came in 5th place, out of 8 people.

Whoops
ruy343, 8 years ago
So... I don't actually have that many Bygone Bishops... so I put that, and a few other changes into the Maybeboard.
That said, I did also make it a more tribal spirit deck (sorry Skyrider Elf and Tireless Tracker). However, I'm not sure that it's better for it - I'm having a hard time getting consistent, every-turn investigation going on. What do you folks think? I'd rather not have to pull my second Tireless Tracker out of my landfall commander deck...

waiting for oketra's attendant and wanter in death to be added to tappedout. cycling creatures are great
Minor polish and foiling
Dabbler, 8 years ago
Further Foiling and minor tweaking. Took out Minds eye, put in Command Beacon. Also removed Vesuva for another Mountain, and removed Blinkmoth Urn and Reliquary Tower in favor for Cathartic Reunion and Tormenting voice for some graveyard fill and card advantage.
Gideon's Intervention
Lost_Ascendant, 8 years ago
Gideon's Intervention single handedly houses Purphoros, God of the Forge which is great given we have an aggressive mono-red deck that just got added to the meta.
MoGoose831, 8 years ago
Added - Lightning Greaves, Aetherflux Reservoir and Spark Trooper
Removed - Prophetic Prism, Dragon Throne of Tarkir and Dragon Mantle

Minor adjustments based on MTGO play
420bootywizard, 8 years ago
-1 Geist from the SB as the control match-up is already very favorable without him. -1 Surgical Extraction although that might come back in at some point with Storm being so prevalent. +2 Kor Firewalker into the sideboard as the burn match-up seems like an auto-lose more often than not, even with the +2 main-board Blessed Alliance.
Amonkhet!!

Archived All previous comments..
There are some amazing amonkhet cards coming out in this set. some are definitely going in, others may or may not, depends on testing.
Please feel free to add card suggestions or to weigh in you opinion on the cards listed below
Combat Celebrant - it hits both CoCo and ascendancy. Exert ability seems like it would end games
Prowling Serpopard - it hits both CoCo and ascendancy. great P/T, good abilities with no draw backs
Rhonas the Indomitable - maybe a 1 of
-
PROS = POWERFUL CARD, hits both CoCo and ascendancy, my creatures should allow it to attack
-
CONS = Legendary creature.
Kefnet the Mindful - Probably not, yes it hits both CoCo & ascendancy. Yes, I plan to draw alot of cards through Temur Ascendancy - but I also plan to play all those cards ASAP, I do not think I can meet the condition of 7 or more cards in hand. BUT I will keep it in mind as a "one of"
Bloodrage Brawler - maybe
-
PROS = great P/T and CMC...
-
CONS = I do not like to discard cards, becomes more of a con with Flameshadow Conjuring.
Exemplar of Strength - maybe
-
PROS = it will trigger CoCo & ascendancy, great P/T and CMC. maybe life gain
-
CONS = three bogus -1/-1 counters.. I don't know how to handle this..
Defiant Greatmaw - maybe
-
PROS = it will trigger CoCo & ascendancy, great P/T and CMC, synergies with Exemplar of Strength
-
CONS = Seems too janky, and I want to avoid having conditioned combo's. Plus I reckon the synergy is pretty crappy
PS - If you have any other suggestions outside of this list. feel free to let me know. I most likely overlooked it or completely missed it. And again, I'd love to hear your opinions, especially if they differ from mine (I acknowledge I am a dumb dumb frequently, and it's the only way that i'll become smrt smrt)
PPS - NOTE: I have not looked at all the spoiled cards, only creatures with CMC 3 or less and power 4 or greater

Finally printed more cycling cards in Amonkhet
Decay57, 8 years ago
Unfortunately not many of the new cycle cards are that good compared to the older sets. At least when it comes to Boros. Forsake the Worldly being the only card I'll definitely be adding to the deck to replace Scrap and Wipe Clean which have always been kind of clunky since they weren't multi-functional (artifacts and enchantments). Still thinking it over about Sweltering Suns to maybe replace some number of Slice and Dices.

Door of Destinies
DakotaNyberg, 8 years ago
I added Door of Destinies, It allows you to choose a creature type, SLIVER. When you play a Sliver it puts a counter on Door of destinies. for every counter on Door of Destinies, it adds a Plusy on every Sliver.

OUT: Deploy to the front (holy crap that's expensive), Seal of Cleansing, Frontline Strategist (damage is generally prevented to my creatures anyway). IN: Sol Ring, Karmic Justice, Grasp of Fate.
More Wrestlers and Updated Land
ready_to_die, 8 years ago
With the new Amonkhet set coming out I added a few more wrestlers to the maybeboard and updated the lands in the deck. I have been trying to figure out how to include The Osirian Portal (a Chikara Tag Team) members "The Funky Pharaoh" Amasis Ahn-Crop Champion and "The Venomous and Vile Serpent from the Nile" Ophidian Rhonas the Indomitable . Thanks to the new Amonkhet I was able to do so. I also forgot to add in The Yeti Cyclopean Mummy but now he is in the maybeboard.
