An aggressive-tribal archetype deck built around werewolves. It's gotten a LOT better with the newest werewolves, thank goodness. It sits in an interesting position and has become genuinely fun and interesting to play. In the first 1-3 turns, the deck is just looking to curve out and put out creature after creature to provide some early aggression. In play experience, turn 1 and 2 werewolves often get in a free hit as their back side, as at least one player always ends up with a "tapped land, pass" turn to flip them and people are uncommonly double-spellcasting in those early turns. From there, the deck is looking for a turn where you can take your own turn off to create an opportunity to flip once the table gets rolling and someone first puts things back to daytime. The flash anthems like Dictate of Heliod are ideal for this, since they give you a chance to flip your board, grow it further, then untap and play Grimlock   to suddenly have a massive collection of power to capitalize on the early aggression to put life total(s) to 0 or very low. The small batch of Human-tribal cards may seem odd at first, but really help bridge the gap in power when you are on the day side of your cards. Excepting the couple of corrupted Eldrazi Werewolves in Eldritch Moon, all the Werewolves are humans on their front side, so a subset of the cards in Human Tribal (an admittedly much more common tribe and more powerful one) synergize well. Thalia's Lieutenant grows all the werewolves in a way they keep once it flips to night and can still do its own growing threat effect from playing new front-side werewolves. Angel of Glory's Rise sees only the frontside in graveyards, so this is a mass reanimate for Werewolves that can also get rid of a random zombie if one shows up.

The deck's Rule 0 commander: Grimlock   is technically a silver-bordered, non-acorn card and isn't legal in Commander. Grimlock is here as a Rule 0 commander for people who are comfortable with that. If someone at the table isn't, I have Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer in the sideboard as a backup option. Rocco might honestly be the more powerful of the two in this case anyway. Rocco allows the deck to play like a Tovolar, Dire Overlord   helmed werewolf deck, but with access to white for more flash cards and other synergy choices. Rocco can also affect a Grimlock-like pump effect by finding anthems like Gahiji, Nightpack Ambusher, or Mayor of Avabruck  .

Since it's a silver bordered and thus doesn't have proper "Oracle Text" on Gatherer, I wanted to preserve this ruling from Mark Rosewater's blogatog on 2017/7/29 about what "Transformer" on Grimlock's front side means: "“Transformer” is defined as either a character from the Transformer universe that is a Transformer or a creature that transforms meaning any double-faced cards that uses the “transform” keyword action."

This is why Grimlock is the main commander for this deck (besides the card being sweet and just wanting to play it because I got one at release and it's fun, though that's a real component): Grimlock acts as a +2/+0 like a Gahiji, but at 1 less mana and with the option to become a massive trampling body to act against lifegain decks. I used to have Gahiji as the backup commander in the deck, but liked the effect enough I wanted the redundancy and duplication in my main deck.

Foretell Cards - While only a couple cards, this mechanic does wonders for utilizing mana without having to double-spell and self-generate going back to daytime. Since Foretelling a card is a game action and not a spell, casting one spell and then using the rest of a turn's mana to foretell a card won't flip night to day.

Conqueror's Galleon   - Originally slotted in as just "a vehicle" to get pumped by the commander when I got ahold of Grimlock, the varied abilities on the back side help give mana sinks to create gap turns to flip to night or utilize mana without flipping to day.

Rule of Law - It prevents anyone from causing Night to become day. In addition, since the deck already has a good number of ways to act at instant speed to create its own gap turns, it's well equipped to use all 3-4 turns to allow it to be unimpeded by only one spell per turn.

Note: some of the cards in the maybe board are seemingly random good stuff, like Valakut Stoneforge  . The real reason is a joke I made to a friend that if I started going ham with MDFCs, I could potentially get the deck with more placeholder cards than non... and lord am I tempted. I've been enjoying the deck's increased power with the last couple werewolf sets though, so I'm leery of weakening the deck just for a meme. So I'm sitting on them there to see if they look actually worthwhile once the initial humor has worn off.
