Welcome to my Kykar, Wind's Fury Midrange primer!

A wonderfully balanced mid range list. Kykar can pressure with combat damage early on some draws, and can pivot to control if needed. Eventually this list can either win with lots of big fliers, Approach of the Second Sun, or Jace Wielder of Mysteries. This deck is best for a tuned meta, but can be tuned down or can even go up against Optimized - possibly CEDH lists with the right tuning/adding of interaction and the powerful Divergent Transformations line. This list is also missing non-stack based answers to artifacts and enchantments excluding Chaos Warp and Dismantling Wave. To optimize the list you’d want to trim the top of the mana curve.

Some tips for specific cards in the list: Open the Armory has 2 targets in the deck: Skullclamp and Sunforger (which has its own suite of targets) The Sunforger package is a little light to fit some particularly splashy and synergistic pieces. 3 removal spells, 3 counter spells, the classic Boros Charm and a new card to fear from sunforger: Akroma’s Will Looking to pull yourself ahead quick? Cyclonic rift is a must have for blue decks and Winds of Abandon for white, but we have other ways to break parity with our wipes. Supreme Verdict, Blasphemous Act can be combined with Akroma’s Will or Boros Charm, and the cycling ability of Dismantling Wave also works very well with Boros Charm. Transmogrify is a spicy card, who doesn’t like flipping cards off the top? We’ve got four hits: Spark Double and Sakashima of a Thousand Faces to copy our commander, as well as Elsha of the Infinite and Consecrated Sphinx for tons of card advantage.

If we’re able to get into the position to pressure our opponents' life totals we’ve got plenty of ways to pump our board: Intangible Virtue, Glorious Anthem, Dictate of Heliod, Cathar’s Crusade, Coat of Arms and True Conviction. While these may seem like a nonbo with skullclamp, they actually allow us to sacrifice the spirits to our commander with skullclamp equipped: effectively making the equip cost 0.

If you’re unable to get yourself into a position to win with combat, the deck has a small wheels package that synergizes with a couple of our spells. Windfall is our prime way to draw a ton, but with As Foretold out you can also cast Wheel of Fate right away. We have Consecrated Sphinx and Teferi’s Ageless Insight to draw a ton of cards and Smothering Tithe to make a ton of mana. If everything goes wrong the backup is underworld breach to pick up any of our pieces on the turn we’re ready to go for the win.

So overall, a very powerful deck that can pressure the table from multiple angles, watch out!
