Deck History & Philosophy

This deck first started way back in 2014 with the Commander 2014's first introduction to the Commander specific Keyword Lieutenant. The deck originally was with Horde of Notions at the helm trying to take advantage of using all the Lieutenants in a Keyword Soup style of deck. Also noted Commander's Sphere was printed which left me with an interesting question "will there be more Commander-esk cards in the future?"

Then in 2016 they came out with the Partner Mechanic. At the time I didn't think much of it for this deck as there were no synergies with the Keyword Soup style of deck nor more Commander specific cards to meld with my deck idea. I did however see the pattern of Commander deck cycles being printed in each new commander set which left me waiting for more synergies.

Then finally in 2018 I got my wish. They not only came out with more Lieutenant cards but another new Mechanic Commander Storm which cared about how many times you cast your Commander. This made me very happy and exactly what I was hoping for, but I ran into a problem. My Commander was which to start is CMC, a tough pill to pull off with trying to up the Commander Storm count. Then after reading the rules announcement for the 2018 Commander sets mechanics I found out, partners were indeed counted individually for the Commander Storm count, and with the printing of Myth Unbound as well, I new at this point I had to have partners for this deck to fully embrace its theme. So I built Thrasios, Triton Hero & Vial Smasher the Fierce to lead this deck.

The deck didn't quite feel right at the time and after playing it for a awhile it felt not quite what I had envisioned. So I finally decided to sit down and really think of what I want from the deck. I decided I wanted to go full on thematic copying my Lieutenants and Commander Synergistic cards like the newly printed Commander's Insignia I wanted to just go ham with it. The colors fit more in line with so I decided upon my now Commander pairing of Thrasios, Triton Hero & Akiri, Line-Slinger, and it was an even better Commander Storm pairing considering there both only CMC each! Thus the brewing began, and this deck was born. The deck has a slight artifact sub-theme to utilize both Akiri, Line-Slinger & Echo Storm, but its real powerhouse is Genesis Storm which can plow through the deck pretty efficiently.

With Commander 2020 Brought a new cycle of powerhouse cards for the deck, free spells! As long as you control your commander of course, Flawless Maneuver, Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, Obscuring Haze. These new cards replaced their non-free counterparts that were in the deck.

The deck still holds to this day awaiting its next line of cards to add to the decks ever growing "Commanders Arsenal."
