Overview

Talrand, Sky Summoner is our commander who specializes in generating token creatures by casting instants and sorceries. Our main goal is to generate enough 2/2 Drake tokens to swing for lethal. We can work towards our goal through card advantage and controlling the battlefield.

Setup

Card advantage is key. Ideally, we want to get cards like Rhystic Study and Venser's Journal out on the battlefield as early as possible. Instant speed card draw such as Brainstorm should be saved until Talrand, Sky Summoner is on the battlefield and used to boost our 2/2 Drake army.

Control

We want to save any Counterspell cards for only direct threats to either you or Talrand, Sky Summoner. Specifically Wrath of God or other board wipes. Ideally, getting an Isochron Scepter onto the board will position us for reliable Counterspell when needed. Wide opponents can be answered by Cyclonic Rift while tall creatures can be targeted with Swan Song mechanics. Flood of Recollection allows us to double-dip our control spells.

Wrapping it Up

If we're really lucky, your opponent won't have a response to flying. Healthy opponents can be quickly brought down using Coat of Arms. If they try to Fog to avoid death, throw in a Time Warp to hit them even harder next turn. Massive opponents can be handled with Sleep.
