Modern Horizons brought with it several incredible Legendary Creatures that stirred the EDH community into a roil of hype and brewing excitement. Food Chain found its apex predator in the form of The First Sliver and mono blue received a new contender in the highest tier of gameplay when Urza, Lord High Artificer walked the planes of magic once more. Compared to these two titans it was difficult for any other to draw attention and shine in their own right. But, you know what?

That’s ok

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician doesn’t mind anonymity. He’s perfectly ok with floating under the radar for there were only ever a select few truly worthy of greatness anyway. Only those who could see his potential when all others flocked to the mundane shall be welcomed in his machine world and made ‘Complete’

Notable Combos

Bargains

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician + 2 undying creatures = bargain. We can sacrifice one, place a -1/-1 on the other, and draw cards. When the other comes back with a +1/+1 we just sac the other and use our -1/-1 to counteract the +1/+1. We can draw cards as long as we can continue to gain life.

Do this with either Blood Artist or Zulaport Cutthroat on board and we can kill the table. It should be noted that Zulaport Cutthroat is a better target to get on board as he drains everyone while Blood Artist only drains a single foe.

Yawgmoth + 1 undying creature + Genesis Chamber / Desecrated Tomb / Pawn of Ulamog / Nest of Scarabs = Bargain

Yawgmoth + Mikaeus + Pawn of Ulamog = Bargain

With Deathgreeter in play we will be able to draw our deck with any of these combos.

Reanimation

When using Buried Alive your targets will almost always be Mikaeus, the Unhallowed , Phyrexian Delver , and Blood Artist

You’ll want to Reanimate delver with any of our various spells that do so and then use the delver to bring back Mikaeus (At the cost of a total of 11 life if you used Reanimate to start). We can then sac the delver to Yawgmoth. Mikaeus will give it undying and when it returns it will grab Blood Artist out of the yard and you’ve got the loop.

Alternatively you can also swap Blood Artist with Gray Merchant of Asphodel . The loop will be established the same way but will require a total of 16 life before gaining value and killing our opponents if we use Reanimate to begin.

Mana

Say you have an Exsanguinate in hand and want a big finish. Or maybe you just want the mana to cast a lot of spells and overwhelm your foes with the sheer power of black.

Pitiless Plunderer + Pawn of Ulamog + Reassembling Skeleton can generate infinite black.

Sac the skeleton to get a treasure and an eldrazi token. Sac both for B1 and when the Eldrazi dies you’ll get another treasure token. Netting you 1 treasure token per loop. Note: You do not need Yawgmoth to do this. Any of our other Sac Outlets will do.
