The Commander

Commodore Guff was perfect for my Super Friends build. I used to have a 5 color deck under the same theme. Way more functional with only 3 colors. That, and his static ability. Besides, it has the main colors that we really need to be successful anyway.

Win Condition

Barren Glory is the win condition for this deck simply for nostalgic reasons. This card is a near replica of my all-time favorite 1998 Unglued card The Cheese Stands Alone. I always wanted to have that as my win condition. And here we are with the 1994 playable option via Barren Glory. This Win Condition is much more cumbersome than doing something simple like infinite creatures or a table lock. But, nostalgia trumps all and is something people won't see coming in this creature-less build.

HOW IT WORKS

Option 1: Apocalypse - Worldfire

You can cast Barren Glory. While it is still on the stack you can cast a destruction card blowing up the board giving it priority. This option gives opponents one rotation to get rid of the Win Condition.

Option 2: Detention Sphere - Oblivion Ring

Not as much mana needed up front because you can have Barren Glory exiled on a previous turn. Once you blow up the table with one of the aforementioned cards it will come back into play. This option also gives opponents one rotation to get rid of the Win Condition.

REDUCING THE ODDS

A great way to reduce the odds would be to play this Win Condition during the end-step of the player right before yourself. Having any one of these cards in play will make that possible.

1: Leyline of Anticipation

2: Vedalken Orrery

3: Emergence Zone

My Top Picks

1: Humility – Tutor this up early game and some people might scoop.

2: Moat – Remember, this is a creature-less build.

3: The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale – They can’t have creatures either.

Final Note

This deck does tend to win without the Win Condition since many of the Planeswalkers in this build do have very strong synergies and Emblems.
