So here's my thinking. I've loved Nath for a long time, I think he's a super cool character and I think he's a very powerful commander, but people really don't like discard. So to play him, but also mitigate hate, I've included some number of cards which would be group hug-like. Give people plenty of cards and plenty of land and they'll be happy. But at the same time, I'm keeping their hands full so the discard trigger still works. It's also nicely flavorful because Nath is a backstabbing POS in the story.

So you're ramping and making people discard, and then Nath teams up with Eldrazi and ruins all their fun, all those lands I let them play start getting destroyed. Then...win(?)
