Furyborn Hellkite Discussion

MorteCerta on Ultimate Dragon Deck!!

I thought about Sarkhan's Unsealing but for 4 mana i usually prefer to drop another dragon - also, there's plenty of removal in the deck already. If you really want it tough, i reckon you can squeeze one or maybe 2 in.

Furyborn Hellkite does look way too expensive to be competitive.

If you try these cards tell me how it goes.

Really like this deck. What are your thoughts on Sarkhan's Unsealing? I realise that the 7-power trigger won't be hit, unless you run a copy or two of Furyborn Hellkite maybe.

I supplemented my mana base with artifacts :) I did this because I know that Dragons cost a buttload to bring out, so I wanted permanents that could tap for more than just 1 mana at a time. That's why the majority of them tap for at least 2 at once, with exceptions from the Medallions which are in there to reduce costs overall and Kolaghan Monument, because he can become another Dragon.

I do see what you mean about the Scry lands, though. I play a lot of Modern and I see all over the place that Scry lands are some of the "worst" lands to run since they enter tapped and all. But I'll make the switch.

I'm going to replace Furyborn Hellkite with Scourge of the Throne. I find that if I want to cheat him out with Kaalia, it doesn't work because no damage was dealt yet. And saving up to that much mana for what amounts to just one more Dragon isn't typically worth it :/

Thanks for the suggestions though!

Hmmm... Daretti’s Dragons. When I first saw this name, I didn’t think the deck would work very well, considering that most dragons do not work with artifacts. However, this actually seems like a pretty strong deck, with the artifacts doing all the cool stuff and the dragons coming in late game for lots of damage. Now, I don’t particularly like to play artifacts. I’m sure that many people do, but I just prefer creatures and spells. However, I have experience with dragons, and should be able to give you some good suggestions for that bit of the deck. I would guess that you probably want dragons that interact with artifacts, so here’s what I have for you:

Dragons that do artifact stuff: Covetous Dragon

Freejam Regent

Furnace Dragon

Hoard-Smelter Dragon

Moltensteel Dragon

Other cool dragons you could use:

Scourge of the Throne

Furyborn Hellkite

Dragon Mage

Bogardan Hellkite

Ancient Hellkite

And some more artifact dragons:

Henge Guardian

Teeka's Dragon

Clockwork Dragon

Lotus Guardian

Now, you might use a or a f these, or you might use none of them. I am just giving ideas that you COULD use. So try them out if you want, keep experimenting. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Gotcha. That makes more sense! Rite of Replication seems amazing. Maybe these would make more sense in your deck:

You need the better cantrips for starters like Serum Visions and Sleight of Hand, maybe a few Past in Flames for more recursion to draw and play more like traditional storm decks. I like the Spinerock Knolls with the burn package though. You're gonna want better dragons too like Bogardan Hellkite and Furyborn Hellkite. You could use a few dual colored lands like Spirebluff Canal and Shivan Reef if you want to avoid fetches and shocks. You're gonna want a set of Manamorphose for the extra draw and mana fixing, it's a prefect card for storm, it looks like you're keeping this on a budget though so I can see why avoiding a $6 card is preferable.
