Purphoros, God of the Forge.

Design Philosophy:

From my experience Mono-Red struggles in EDH, especially late game, my solution is to devote this deck entirely to aggression and not dilute it with "answer" cards. Essentially it is a damage race, so expect everyone to gang up and try to stop you. Fortunately, Purphoros is incredibly hard to deal with, because very few spells exile non-creatures.

The Plan:

  1. Cast Purphoros
  2. Make tokens that "Shock" my opponents
  3. Use tokens for blocking and sacrifice combos

What You Can Expect:

Assuming someone doesn't have an answer, this deck ALWAYS deals lethal damage by turn 8, usually on turn 6, and as early as turn 3 with a god hand (in a multiplayer game without attacking). In the past I ran more accel, such as sorceries and mana rocks, to make it win faster but it was less consistent; occasionally flooding out on accel and land. This is plenty fast for my current play group, in fact, probably too competitive.
