Reddit Boros Deck Challenge- Razia, Boros Archange

At surface, this deck seems a little bit of a mess. And that's partly because it is, but more importantly, it isn't.

The first thing that came to mind when building this deck is that the whole flavor of the Boros legion is centered around equalness. Nothing is more equal than cards that equalize the board, so I started there (These include Cataclysm, Cataclysmic Gearhulk, Wildfire effects, Restore Balance, and Divine Reckoning). Also fitting the flavor, I tried to add "Officer" cards that would serve as Razia's officers. These cards are the ones that dictate combat, like Bassandra, Battle Seraph, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, and Boros Battleshaper. These cards serve on offense just as well as defense, because this is one of the rare Boros decks in which attacking is not required to get a victory.

I was struck by the description of the deck building challenge: the deck must actually work. So aside from a few other Boros flavor cards, the rest of the deck is built to be brutally efficient. The way it does that is with combos and engines, making sure your long game is as potent if not more potent than most other players at the table.

At the deck's heart, the deck is a series of tutor chains, beginning with Recruiter of the Guard and Imperial Recruiter, whose job is to recruit more minions for the Boros Army being lead by Razia. But in reality, they both just get Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker to set up absurd combos.

The Imperial Recruiter chain looks like:

Recruiter--> Kiki --> Felidar Guardian= Infinite 1/4 hasters.

The Recruiter of the Guard chain is a little more complex, but looks like:

Recruiter--> Kiki--> Siege-Gang Commander --> Stoneforge Mystic (grabbing Sunforger) --> Sunforger activate for Enlightened Tutor, grabbing Ashnod's Altar --> Copy Stoneforge with Kiki, grab Nim Deathmantle --> Make infinite mana and Goblins and tutors with Ashnod's Altar + Siege-Gang Commander + Nim Deathmantle.

Alternatively, you can grab Imperial Recruiter with Recruiter of the Guard, but I digress.

In addition to the Recruiter combos, both Reveillark, Karmic Guide, Sun Titan, and Fiend Hunter are in the deck meaning you have access to even more combos, with Reveillark + Karmic Guide + Ashnod's Altar being infinite mana/ETB triggers on a relevant creature, Reveillark + Kiki-Jiki + Demonmail Hauberk + Karmic Guide being infinite Reveillark tokens, and Sun Titan + Fiend Hunter + Ashnod's Altar being infinite mana.

Now remember those board wipe effects I talked about earlier? Those have some important synergies and combos of their own. You often don't need as many lands as most people, so you are more than comfortable living on at least 5.

Wildfire/Burning of Xinye/Destructive Force with your commander out mean you have a 6/3 flying haster in play while most if not all of the other creatures and lands are dead, due to Razia being able to save herself and deal and extra 3 damage to a creature that would not normally die to these effects.

Additionally, this deck can voltron well, so cards like Cataclysm can be a huge benefit to you if your Razia is equipped enough (Especially with Darksteel Plate!).

Sword of Fire and Ice and Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant protect any of your creatures from the Red damage wraths you run, while Repercussion punishes your opponents greatly in the same vein.

Lastly, the Sunforger package deserves a slight mention. There are so many neat things you can do with Sunforger, especially if you have Mistveil Plains in play (fetchable with the white fetchlands, Tithe, and Knight of the White Orchid). Magnetic Theft is an incredibly versatile piece of tech, allowing you to attach Sunforger to an opponent's creature at instant speed in case your board gets wiped by one of your opponents, ensuring you have access to Sunforger at all times, in addition to being able to equip your own equipment at instant speed like Lightning Greaves to grant insta-shroud, or a sword for insta-protection. Boros Charm is really good at protecting your own board from your own destroy wraths, and great at surprising opponents with double strike Razia. The rest are just great utility pieces.

P.S. Godo, Bandit Warlord is great with vigilant creatures, so in addition to getting equipment to throw on Razia, an attack with Godo also gives you a second combat, which means Razia will get to attack twice!!
