Iroas and the Menacing Legion of Boros

Creature (1)

Let's start where every good edh deck starts, with it's commander.

Iroas, God of Victory is a lot of fun to build around. He's a 4 cmc enchantment that becomes a creature when you reach 7 devotion (devotion counts the mana symbols in the top right corner of the permanents you control). He is indestructible and his battlefield effects are active even before he becomes a creature. So whatever creatures you control will have menace and ANY damage they do receive during your attacks will be prevented. Which, if you couldn't tell, is an amazing synergy between the two effects.

Which creatures will you smash face with? My top choices were Brimaz, King of Oreskos, Hero of Bladehold, and Hellrider. Creatures that spawn creatures work well in an aggro deck, so Brimaz and HoB were my first two choices. After a few tweaks Hellrider made a debut and oh lord is his ability brutal in this build!

Realizing how ridiculous my attacks would get drew me to cards that gave me more combat steps. Enter Aurelia, the Warleader she wins games in this build!! If you have any sort of board state and she gets to attack; your opponents may need a bucket to relieve themselves into. For redundancy I added Waves of Aggression, Aggravated Assault, World at War, and Hellkite Charger. Once the plan has gone into motion, these cards are brutal... absolutely devastating. In one match I was able to achieve 3 combat steps in one turn, which prompted me to shower for about 12 hours straight just trying to wash away how dirty that moment felt.

Abusing these attack steps by gaining tertiary benefits is a good strategy. The aforementioned Hellrider in addition to Inferno Titan, Sun Titan, Sword of Feast and Famine, Sword of the Animist, and Gleam of Battle are all righteous effects to tack on to an attack.

Batallion (triggered ability: when this creature and at least two other creatures attack) is a mechanic that is closely tied to Boros. Unsurprisingly it works extremely well in this build! Firemane Avenger, Frontline Medic, Legion Loyalist, and Tajic, Blade of the Legion get the job done when leading a combat step.

When the legion takes heavy losses from an engagement any able bodied fighter may fight in the name of justice!!! In addition to Brimaz and HoB cards like Launch the Fleet, Captain's Claws, and Assemble the Legion will maintain a fighting force large enough to pressure any resistance the enemy is able to muster.

When the odds are stacked against you the leadership of a battle hardened champion can turn the tide. Boros has the best of the best in this regard. Archetype of Aggression, Archetype of Courage, Balefire Liege, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Heliod, God of the Sun, Nobilis of War, Odric, Lunarch Marshal, Ogre Battledriver, and Urabrask the Hidden are all capable of making an impact as soon as they arrive.

As far as the rest of the deck goes it is mainly comprised of staples, protection, and of course the land base.

If this three card board state lines up on curve, play it... no you don't understand you have to play it!! ( Gratuitous Violence+True Conviction+Gisela, Blade of Goldnight ) Quadruple damage Double Strike Lifelink, yes it's really that ridiculous.
