. . . to Rise Eternal.

With War of the Spark, we received four out of the five Amonkhet gods in their eternalized forms. As Amonkhet is one of my favorite planes, and it's associated gods some of my favorite cards, I couldn't resist building them for myself.

Now, I want to preface this entire section of the deck list. I am aware of the strength that Scroll Rack and extra turn spells can bring to this deck, and at one point I may convert to a build that utilizes this strategy as a win condition. However, for the moment this deck is focusing on avoiding this, and wining in other ways. Now, onto the commander. Unlike Kefnet's prior form, God-Eternal Kefnet does something completely different. Instead of merely drawing cards, we instead get to miracle cast a copy of the first card we draw each turn. This build wants to focus on drawing cards on other people's turns, so as to cast the maximum number of spells that I can. Regardless though, this deck is still a blue deck, and as such aims to play many of the usual "good stuff" one finds in blue, and merely cast extra copies of those spells. Below I'll include a list of card choices and the win conditions, with explanations for how they fit together into the deck.

Through the use of Kefnet's effect, we can sort of shift our place at the table by forcing draws on other people's turns. As such, a handful of cards in the deck are aimed at doing so:

  • Rhystic Study , Mystic Remora
  • -The classic EDH blue enchantment duo comes with the added bonus of all of our spells being miracle'd in this deck, so they're even stronger in this list than they would be in others.
  • Consecrated Sphinx
  • -Basically the same reasoning as the last two.
  • Temple Bell , Mikokoro, Center of the Sea
  • -While these two draw everyone a card, they each draw us two cards in a way, the copy and the actual card. They also do the thing the deck wants to do via letting us draw cards on other people's turns, and in turn shifting our location at the table.
With all of this spell copying and casting, we want a steady amount of payoffs to help take advantage of them. These will help us keep pace with the table until we can find a way to win.
