Basic Multiplication with Gisela

Concept

Damage doubling effects, when channeled through redirecting sources, can be multiplied several times over. Targeting a Stuffy Doll with a Lightning Bolt normally does 3 and then 3 to the named opponent. When in the presence of Furnace of Rath, however, the Furnace doubles the bolt's 3 damage to 6 when it hits the doll and then doubles the doll's 6 damage to 12 against the named opponent!

Gisela is an imperfect example of this doubling effect, since she actually halves damage to your own Stuffy Doll rather than double it, so we're looking for ways to apply this damage doubling effect to opponent's creatures similar to Repercussion.

How It Plays

We're a big burn deck, so we're going to need a lot of mana for large X spells. Using rocks to ramp and deterring faster decks with utility creatures, we can rely on lifegain for lategame stabilization. Casting damage doubled or quadrupled Earthquakes can lead to the game ending in a draw, so out life-gaining our opponents or manipulating life-totals is another important aspect of the deck.

Multipliers

• Dictate of the Twin Gods and Furnace of Wrath are the workhorses of the deck.
• Using damage rerouting effects like Repercussion, Mogg Maniac, Boros Reckoner, Coalhauler Swine, and Spitemare also serve as multipliers because the damage they take is doubled, and then the damage they deal is doubled again.

Staying Alive

• Resolute Archangel helps recover after the big X burn spells have done work.
• Personal Sanctuary allows you to burn on your turn without taking too much damage yourself.
