cuelix on Sidar Kondo: give them toys ...

Hey gang, first thread here so please feel free to provide any constructive criticism! Haven't been active in a forum for quite some time..

Anyways, I'm contemplating sort of an odd strategy to utilize Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa as a general. I'm considering Vial Smasher the Fierce or Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist as his partner. Right now it seems like black brings more to the table for this particular strategy and I love b/w removal options but it's possible there are things I've overlooked in blue, and Ludevic insentivizes the kind of thing I'm going for and gives me access to Edric, Spymaster of Trest for total craziness!

The main strategy of this deck would be to give my opponents little 1/1 and 2/2 tokens to hit each other with providing evasion with Kondo, maybe turn up the heat with goad and goad-like effects while trying to deter combat damage directed to myself with cards like Ghostly Prison, Sphere of Safety, Crawlspace, Dictate of Erebos, Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs, Mystic Barrier. You get the picture!

Mob Rule, Insurrection, Army of the Damned and Massacre Wurm are possible win conditions and Overseer of the Damned, Blood Artist, Soul Warden, Vicious Shadows, and Revel in Riches benefit from a carnage of etb and death triggers. I can also benefit from the Commander 2017 curses so that's something to consider as well!

What I feel I need the most help with is cards that put tokens into the battlefield under an opponent(s) control. They're definitely a corner case and it's not entirely easy to do a search for them either seeing how the wording varies quite a bit for cards that do this!

Rhys is freaking amazing but doesn't work in the deck. I'm looking for ways to generate tokens for me and my opponents. The creatures i do have do this for my opponent upon entering the battlefield, and Rhys only does it when tapped and just for me.

I do need more card draw but that will have to come from spells or artifacts not creatures.

I chose Ravos and Kydele for two reasons. 1 two creatures is better than one for mass polymorph and 2 both of their abilities are helpful. Ravos, Soultender buffs all my tokens making them more survivable and potentially allowing me to win through combat and Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix will allow cards like Alliance of Arms to blow up!!

Thanks to everyone for your comments on my deck. I am so behind in responding though so let's see if I can catch up...

First of all, thank you to CrystallizedRomance, ACDAMAN, wellhistranger, RazortoothMtg, DexRain, NimbusNobody, DarkStarStorm and TimothyClover for all your kind words, you made Phelddagrif blush.

As for the suggestions, the two walls you suggested dankmim, have both been in the deck at some point, and Fog Bank still is, but I've come to realize that once people know that you're not any kind of threat, they pretty much leave you alone. Not that I should leave myself totally defenseless, that wouldn't be good, but I think that overdoing the pillow-fort aspect of the deck leaves me with fewer cards that actually do what the deck is intended to do.

DexRain, I bought a copy of Jace Beleren for the deck, but after giving it some thought, came to the conclusion that it is just too scary a card to be sitting on the battlefield ticking up with his ultimate staring people in the face, even if I never intend to use it. I'm giving out so much card draw that I always have to be conscience of how low everyone's libraries are getting, so if I'm worried about it, you know they are.

Those are all good suggestions, TheWallinator74 and I've considered all of them over time. With Ghirapur Orrery, the second ability, which kicks in when someone has no cards in hand, will just never happen since I'm giving out so much card draw, so the question has to be asked, is the first ability alone worth the 4 mana it cost to cast it?

Hunted Wumpus has the one time ETB effect which is okay but there again, is the one time effect worth the 4 mana? The main problem I have with the card though is that it is a 6/6, and big green stompy creatures can be seen as a threat.

Tempting Wurm has two problems. The first is that he is a 5/5 which can be threatening, but also if one person has a Reliquary Tower effect in play and the others don't, it would allow them to dump many more threats onto the battlefield than their opponents.

I thought about Weird Harvest too, but giving out card draw is one thing, allowing people to tutor up their combos is another, so I haven't included that one yet.

I didn't put Tempt with Glory in the deck earlier because I didn't think it did enough for the mana cost, but lately with all the hype surrounding the Atraxa, Praetors' Voice Commander deck, I'm even more reluctant to include it.

I do like Alliance of Arms and I have one. I'm not sure why it's not in here. Stay tuned, I may soon be including it.

Thanks again to everyone who has liked and commented on this deck. Even if I don't reply as quickly as I would like due to some comments requiring a rather lengthy response (like this one), I do read them in a timely manner and appreciate them all.

Here is a fairly exhaustive accounting of cards that create small tokens for your opponents that haven't already been mentioned: Benevolent Offering, Dovescape, Mercy Killing, Alliance of Arms, Dark Salvation, Greener Pastures, Infernal Genesis, Tombstone Stairwell, Akroan Horse, Forbidden Orchard. Some are easier than others to control.

Alliance of Arms also works well with Sanguine Bond, Defiant Bloodlord and Suture Priest, and it helps with cards such as Aetherflux Reservoir or Test of Endurance - so rather versatile and therefore a winner :-)

You should consider Alliance of Arms for this deck then. It is a cheap token generator that costs 1 Mana and you only need to pump when it resolves, so it can't be countered then. With Cliffhaven Vampire or any of the other Lifegain triggers + Soul Sisters or Authority of the Consuls it can win the game instantly. 5 Players, 5 extra mana, 25 tokens, 25 life trigger + 25 damage to all players. Even if Cliffhaven is missing it gives Karlov +50/+50 then.
