Alliance of Arms Discussion

Great first EDH deck, and really nice commander choice/idea! Cards that give everyone dudes like Goblin Spymaster, Tempt with Vengeance, Alliance of Arms, Genesis Chamber, Sylvan Offering, and Rite of the Raging Storm could be a lot of fun! Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs and Grenzo, Havoc Raiser also seem fitting here :) Nice deck!

My bad, I misread Assemble the Legion. But you can run, in the same idea, Alliance of Arms (which would be tons of fun ) and Benevolent Offering. It synergizes well with Past in Flames.

The last cool card I forgot is Mana Flare. It will bait your opponent's tread (if they don't already know what kind of deckbuilding you're into) and gives you a pretty damn effective ramp effect!

Well right off the bat maybe a different commander?? Odric, Master Tactician or Odric, Lunarch Marshal are both really good soldier commanders.

Maybe Alliance of Arms since the symmetry is wildly skewed toward you. Brimaz, King of Oreskos is a g, Deploy to the Front is just wins the game (unless there's a board wipe) by the time you can cast it. Entrapment Maneuver can just DESTROY voltron. Hero of Bladehold is also a g, Nomads' Assembly is also just a win.

Also Preeminent Captain. That is all.

Happy brewing, and best of draws to you.

Gonna do what I usually do and brainstorm a bunch of cards in the vain hope that some of them will be of use:

Maybe Martyr's Bond instead of e.g. Grave Pact? Dunno if you produce enough enchantments and/or artifact permanents to make it worth it but it could finish off everthing your enemies own that were exempt from e.g. Cataclysm.

Maybe Cauldron of Souls as a source of backup recursion which can save more than just your commander? (And she'll shed that -1/-1 counter pretty fast.)

Tombstone Stairwell is a pet card of mine and I'd love for it to make a comeback. Maybe also consider other, similar cards like Curse of Disturbance, Benevolent Offering or Alliance of Arms?

In the same vein, maybe a non-Creature card that benefits from enemy creatures like Bloodchief Ascension, Authority of the Consuls, Ashes of the Abhorrent, (Carnival of Souls) or (Moonlit Wake)? (I assume you've already considered e.g. Blood Artist.)

Saw your comment in the deck advertiser. It did not fall on deaf ears.

This seems like a fun base. So here are a couple ways to make it fierce.

1) 2011 Vows- Vow of Lightning, Vow of Duty, Vow of Malice. All help "take down" your opponents' biggest threats.

2) Curses- more misdirection could be Curse of Vitality or Curse of the Forsaken. Overwhelming Splendor might be an okay game ender, and a lot of other curses are fun and worth checking out, but I'm not gonna bother listing all of them here. Look them up on the gatherer.

3) Join Forces and Tempting Offers- Tempt with Immortality, Tempt with Vengeance, Mana-Charged Dragon, and Alliance of Arms could be really fun. Giving people things makes them like you.

Also a fun idea: Blazing Archon. Neither competitive nor hard to remove, but if your opponent doesn't have the stuff, it is the worst/best.

I clicked into this because of the strange sight of blue in this deck and I'm afraid Vorel of the Hull Clade is not legal in this deck.

But now that I'm here the rest of the deck is really interesting. The use of Alliance of Arms is really inspired, and I like the vaguely token direction you took.

Paradox Engine is amazing with selvala, and Sandwurm Convergence is a personal favourite I've seen work well with her.

Hope this helps
