Concept

One day I got the urge to build a new deck. I decided to go with combo since it was a play style I hadn't built around yet. This deck has gone through many stages, but finally ended up somewhere I really enjoy playing.

Commander

Originally piloted by Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind. I switched to Niv-Mizzet, Parun when he came out. Niv-Mizzet, Parun has a slightly more restrictive casting cost, but is counter-proof.

Cost Reduction

• Baral, Chief of Compliance, Goblin Electromancer, and Primal Amulet  

Niv Time

What the deck is all about:

• Niv-Mizzet, Parun or Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind + Niv-Mizzet, Visionary, Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, or Tandem Lookout. This combo, once triggered, provides "infinite damage" according to how many cards you can draw. This combo + The Locust God = tokens for days, This combo + Psychosis Crawler = dead opponents, This combo + Chasm Skulker = a huge creature of lots of squid tokens if it dies, or This combo + Laboratory Maniac or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries = deck yourself out and win.
• Give Niv-Mizzet, Parun, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, or Niv-Mizzet, Visionary + Basilisk Collar and ping creatures with deathtouch.

Graveyard Shuffles

Since the deck has a lot of draw power, it is nice to have something to get cards back into the deck if need be:

• Elixir of Immortality, Learn from the Past, and Psychic Spiral

Removal

• Removal - Chaos Warp, Illusionist's Gambit, Pongify, Deflecting Swat, and Reality Shift,
• Wipes - Displacement Wave, Blasphemous Act, and Cyclonic RiftGC

Counters

We're running blue, so of course, we need one or two counters. The goal is to delay opponents until Niv goes off.
