Kwain Gang Forever.

This Kwain deck started almost as a joke. I was familiar with the idea of "Group Hug", but the idea of basing an entire deck around a commander that just lets everybody draw a card felt extremely silly. Imagine my surprise when I saw Kwain was in the top 10 Azorius commanders on EDH rec (but I digress).

I had this fantasy of rolling up to a table and somebody not familiar with my deck reading my commander and going "That's it?" and then somebody who was familiar going "just wait...". I wanted to make this little bunny as powerful as possible, and in the Azorius colors I figured it was probably pretty doable.

What I like about this deck is the flexibility. This may sound douchey, but you have a lot of control over how you want the game to go. You can rush an infinite combo and close out the game early, or choose a slower approach that allows you to maximize other player's decks to keep a fun game going, and then swoop in when necessary. The deck has a LOT of protection for you, and because of your slow non-agressive turns, people will typically avoid attacking you or setting you back too much.

The playstyle is obviously highly based around drawing cards. With several cards that increase the number of cards each player draws on their draw step, coupled with powerhouse cards like Smothering Tithe, Rhystic Study, Teferi's Ageless Insight, etc. You will be drawing a LOT of cards, and everybody else will too. With control magic, and Propaganda type effects, you can sit back and let your opponents duke things out until you're ready to strike.

ENTER THE INFINITE

This deck has a few pretty clear wincons. A very reliable one is Approach of the Second Sun. Utilizing Boseiju, Who Shelters All or Grand Abolisher/Tidal Barracuda, you can resolve this, easily draw 7 cards, and cast it again shortly after. If you have a Reprieve handy, you can reprieve it back to your hand and even do it faster.

Another wincon is to simply swing in. There are several creatures in the deck that benefit from drawing cards, and these creatures can get pretty massive. It's also extremly easy to ult with Teferi, Temporal Pilgrim which will give your opponents no blockers. You can also copy a strong creature somebody else has with Vesuvan Doppelganger and swing in that way. Dream Trawler is also a very evasive and strong attacker.

Or, you could go infinite. This is primarily done with Mind Over Matter. In theory, these two cards alone will let you draw your entire library. Tap Kwain, draw a card, and then discard that card (or another) to Mind over Matter, which untaps Kwain. This is a little clunky because each other player draws a card as well, which means they will draw almost their entire deck as well. So you will want some sort of protection (think, Grand Abolisher) to ensure they don't mess up your plans.

An all star for this combo is Azami, Lady of Scrolls. Kwain is a Wizard, so suddenly when you tap him, you can sacrifice the life gain to be the only one to draw a card. That's not even counting Azami herself can activate the combo and you don't even need Kwain at that point. Arcanis the Omnipotent can too (and 3x Faster!)

IN CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this deck is super fun, a little bit of a meme, and overall an incredible time. One of my personal favorites, and the best part is people like playing against it.
