Michiko's Reign of Truth

Enchantment — Saga

(As this Saga enters the battlefield and after your draw step, put a lore counter on this and activate and/or enable the ability of the saga tied to the required number of counters.)

/ — Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each artifact and/or enchantment you control.

— Exile this Saga, then return this to the battlefield transformed under your control.

Urza's Saga is pretty good with Barbara Wright, but doesn't do anything with Ian Chesterton. It's a land, so it's never cast, so it can't be replicated.

Michiko's Reign of Truth  Flip seems pretty good with either and both. Depending on other colors, The Raven's Warning and Oath of Eorl can get some big card advantage and pressure, while Ascent of the Worthy is good recovery.

Hello! I went through your list looking for spots to upgrade, but I found almost none: congratulations, it is really optimized!

Still, I believe you might want to consider some of these cards to increase your engine:

Ramp: Cultivate and Llanowar Elves could be Starfield Mystic, Bear Umbra, Burgeoning or Exploration instead, to stick with the Enchantments theme.

Draw: Don't forget the other enchantresses (Satyr Enchanter, Verduran Enchantress). I would take out Hyena Umbra and Cartouche of Solidarity for them.

Tutors: Heliod's Pilgrim might be better than Moon-Blessed Cleric, since it puts the card in your hand.

Pillowfort: Raking Canopy is probably more effective to deflect fliers than Spider Umbra. Elephant Grass could take White Sun's Twilight's place, since the former does not blow your own field.

Evasion: You might want Unquestioned Authority for extra evasion. It might replace Aegis of the Gods. (In my experience, players' spells do not usually target other players.)

Hate pieces: Rest in Peace, Ground Seal, Solemnity, Authority of the Consuls, Blind Obedience are some cards you might want to include.

itsbuzzi on Pioneer Artifact Aggro: Where's Ensoul?

The color flip came about because white gained a ton of artifact/enchantment synergy that red just couldn't keep up. I splash it in my own list.

With the printing of Michiko's Reign of Truth  Flip it started to get outvauled where you can pump a creature twice with it, not be worried about a 2 for 1, and get a big body later. I personally also run an Ensoul list, Jeskai, and have never thought of cutting it but as additional copies of enabler cards for more consistency.

Ever since the beginning of Frontier/Pioneer Ensoul Artifact aggro has had a presence in the competitive meta.

Ive seen the deck evolve over time to be less and now be more for the sideboard answer cards/removal and Ingenious Smith/Michiko's Reign of Truth  Flip... which makes sense and all...but why has Ensoul Artifact fallen out of favor in these decks?

I always thought that the main appeal to the deck was making an Ornithopter a 5/5 flyer or slapping it onto Darksteel Citadel for 5/5 indestructible and just close out the game quickly with an obnoxious early beater that either was harder to remove or had evasion... combined with whatever artifact synergy the decks running.

Is Ensoul Artifact suffering the same fate as Kird Ape/Loam Lion/Wild Nacatl where although aggressively costed it just isnt enough anymore? I see some lists still running the card on some Youtube lists but they are starting to be over 6 months old now.

I personally still run Ensoul Artifact in a list featuring Patchwork Automaton with Reinforced Ronin/Network Disruptor... I feel like I have a moderate/acceptable success/winrate with the decklist; but admittedly I dont play Pioneer very seriously and just attend the LGS that hosts Pioneer ever once in awhile because its a bit of a drive to get there as opposed to other shops that play EDH/Modern far more conveniently for me.

DreadKhan on Zur, the Disenchanter

Exquisite Blood would be pretty nice with Zur's Weirding Out, in addition to giving life for Necropotence, and with Protection Racket, it's one thing to pay a few life to keep you from getting a free card, giving you free life feels pretty awful, and Zur can dig out Protection when you just want cards without paying life. You can mention to people you don't run any 2 card combos, so they won't worry about the Sanguine Bond combo with Exquisite Blood.

With Merieke and Zur, I feel like you'd want Pemmin's Aura and/or Freed from the Real, once Zur puts the Aura on her, it's U to kill target creature, and when you're out of U you keep the best creature you can steal until you have mana again. If Merieke is a card you like digging out, there are 3 mana Transmute cards fwiw, Perplex, Dimir Machinations and the ungodly bad Drift of Phantasms.

For Zur, I like having the option to go Voltron, to do so I run All That Glitters and Heliod, Sun-Crowned. If one copy of All That Glitters doesn't quite cut it, there is also Michiko's Reign of Truth  Flip, but I mostly use Copy Enchantment, Estrid's Invocation and Mirrormade to make more Glitters if I want a bigger Zur, 3 is usually a 1 hit kill fwiw, and he can dig out an Unblockable aura or Thassa, God of the Sea technically. For Shroud I like Greater Auramancy, but there is also Diplomatic Immunity to consider.

If you don't mind running Vanishing, which is a very good 'dodge' effect for Zur that doesn't cost him Auras/Counters, you can also run the very funny Out of Time to just wipe creatures pretty much permanently. If you have Copy Enchantment effects, you can duplicate this before it goes away to lock away another group of creatures, very nasty vs large creature boards, and Zur finds both pieces.

Another funny Zur card is Dance of Many, which can duplicate a creature you can target, a very strong effect if your meta cares about powerful creatures. If people run Mill in your area, Nighthowler can be fetched out for a big creature or be drawn to make Zur bigger.

You can't fetch it out, but like Mother of Runes it's very good to have out, Devoted Caretaker can offer very versatile protection to more stuff.

If you want something pretty dirty you can pull out vs opponents that are running stronger than expected decks, your Smothering Tithe works very well with Stasis, which also likes Black Market Connections, though you'll want Brave the Sands to give Zur (and your board) Vigilance. Stasis also likes Archon of Emeria and you're already running Thalia, Heretic Cathar. It's certainly not fetching out Heliod after you've dropped Balista, this doesn't win on the spot, but it's a very strong/nasty effect to have access to, even if you don't dig it out very often. Fortunately Stasis is the only piece you wouldn't want to draw!

I have a few ideas for you! Mostly ones I stole from Mardu Treasures by Local_Hethen. It's a cool deck. (:

I play Zur in cEDH, I used to use Web of Inertia with Rest in Peace to make me immune to attacks, handy vs stuff like Eldrazi (or Najeela) where even a single swing can be a disaster, even if I don't take damage. There is also Energy Field that works with Rest in Peace fwiw. At the moment I use Solitary Confinement to be immune to a lot of stuff, and I give it Shroud via Greater Auramancy. Confinement is a bit more onerous than Island Sanctuary, but it's also a much bigger effect.

I also like using Dovescape and Malevolent Hermit  Flip (well, Benevolent Geist) to turn off a lot of my opponent's spells while not affecting my own (other than giving me birds now), all of your 'tax on attack' effects make those birds feel very bad. Hermit by itself is a pretty handy card to have down, U to counter anything big, and it's an ability so it's hard to interact with. Dovescape is a really big deal if you can resolve it, even if you don't have Geist down. If you're worried about Zur getting blocked, there are some Unblockable auras you can run, or even Thassa, God of the Sea if you want to run something really weird.

I find the card War Tax is a surprisingly relevant effect to have around when a game is going badly for me, I can sink spare mana into it to make sure a player cannot swing, technically at anyone. You can use the card as a politics piece, taxing anyone who won't agree to attack who you choose, which is a very annoying ability to have. Duelist's Heritage and Michiko's Reign of Truth  Flip are nice ways to help close a game out with Zur.

Grasp of Fate is a really funny card Zur has access to, it feels like one of the 'they made this card for Zur players, didn't they' cards. The Restoration of Eiganjo  Flip is probably worth a look, at it's worst it's an enchantment that finds you a land drop, it's ability to recur anything small can be useful (and can be land ramp in white) as well, and the body it becomes is just big enough to matter.

I've been running this deck for a bit now and I've gotta say I love it a lot! I know it might not fit thematically, but Michiko's Reign of Truth  Flip works really well in this deck. If you're ok with dumping cards in your graveyard then Runaway Trash-Bot might be another to think about, again if you're ok with leaning away from the theme. Sanctum Weaver is nice if you're not pulling a lot of land or to help you ramp really fast.
