Description

This deck is all about making The Mimeoplasm into gigantic, terrifying atrocities, and then using it to destroy worlds. This is achieved by dumping big nasties into the yard and making stupid amounts of +1/+1 counters. Not a super original strategy for a mimeo deck, but why fix what ain't broke?

Fun combos include:

Vulturous Zombie and Jace's Archivist.

Play Rite of Replication or Progenitor Mimic on a Corpsejack Menace to make exponentially stupid counter growth. I've also had fun making tokens of Engulfing Slagwurm and my dudes that assign damage as though they weren't blocked.

Szadek, Lord of Secrets gets crazy with this +1/+1 counter build.

Silent-Blade Oni is always a good time, but he really comes in handy when I need to reset my commander. Ninjitsu Mimeo back to my hand, steal a spell, then bring back Mimeo as something bigger or more useful. (I also think Demon Ninja is one of the coolest subtypes I've seen.)

Laboratory Maniac is a goofy way to win. He's not the goal of the deck, but it's always good to have fail-safes, especially when they're win-cons too.

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord on anything big seems to be my most consistent win-con so far.

Reyhan, Last of the Abzan and/or Vorel of the Hull Clade can make all of the above combos even more outrageous and hard to stop if I can just keep creatures out.

There are many more interesting combos and interactions, too many to list. The Mimeoplasm is a super fun commander and can make plenty of interesting and unusual interactions, especially when playing with opponents' graveyards. This deck can mill out opponents, but I didn't want to make another straight mill deck. This one is just seasoned with mill. I try to focus mainly on my own yard to avoid making opponents seek revenge, but I'm definitely not opposed to eating critters from other graveyards if it will give me an edge.

I think I have my decklist pretty much where I need it, I just need to play the deck more. I've caught myself on a few misplays that cost me games. This deck is usually a strong contender at my table and it sure is a heck of a lot of fun to play. Sultai is such a fun color scheme.

Consider Kalonian Hydra and Winding Constrictor. Hangarback Walker may also be good, along with Walking Ballista.

Maybe Death's Shadow could also help

Death's Shadow is not good in EDH. It gets -X/-X, where X is your life total, which is 40 in EDH. You'd have to lose a lot of life in order to even let him land.

True, he usually dies on entry in EDH. But with mimeo, that effectively gives me easy access to 13 counters to put on whatever else mimeo eats. And it's only one black to put him in the yard. So it's not bad. That being said, it is too expensive of a card for that purpose in my opinion, and the price is definitely because of other formats.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

Oh. I didn't even think about that.
