When you waste money on Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation trying to find invocations, you have some leftover cards you need to find a use for. Thankfully those sets had one of my favorite mechanics, Cycling.

Cycling mechanic has been in Magic for a long time, and Amonkhet block put alot of cycling cards into the pool. Enough to make a commander deck. A janky commander deck. It can even be quite powerful at times. But most importantly, it is soooo much fun to play. Zur the Enchanter is a common commander in this odd archetype, being able to grab alot of the cycling payoffs just by attacking.

The real boss in here is Archfiend of Ifnir. The effect on this guy is very oppressive, and can really control the game if not dealt with fast enough. Zur attacking will often have me fetching Attunement, which makes Ifnir or the other "when you discard" effects in the deck turn on with ease. Usually that can be enough to win a game, but another high impact play can come from cycling a buttload of creatures, and unloading a Living Death or my favorite card of all time All Hallow's Eve. Zur can get some situational cards for protection like Propaganda, or just slap Animate Dead on a big cycled creature. Fluctuator and New Perspectives are obviously huge with cycling, so I play a few cards with transmute to tutor for these (Ethereal Usher Muddle the Mixture). I plan to improve the land base with shocks, fetches and better duals. Functions well as it is though, and is a blast to play.
