Kaalia of the Vast May have lost Iona, Shield of Emeria, as a powerhouse control piece, but that hasn’t stopped our beautiful women from devastating the battlefield and scaring the minds of players across the spectrum.

Find an opening, strike quickly, and strike often with this deck. Focus on the biggest threat to you until they are no more and then move on to the next meal.

Bleeding Them Dry

After taking this deck offline and retooling its design, the deck has drifted away from Land Destruction, that often is a double edged sword, and is about bleeding your opponents dry. The bloodletting persists while the opposition contends with issues of both the physical onslaught and the control effects chosen for the deck.

Speed

Mardu's focus is speed so haste is as essential to this deck as flying. Hall of the Bandit Lord, Lightning Greaves, and Dragon Tempest are, hands down, the best card ever printed for Kaalia in the perspective of haste. Once you have Kaalia soaring in the air unimpeded gain further ground by dropping your big creatures on the field to gain more control of the board state while you slaughter the opposition.

Defense

I’ve never seen a Mardu Deck that was big on self preservation, but, in this decks case, Moat will keep your opponents from your life total. Anything non-flying can still attack with Moat on the field if being put I to play via Kaalia’s ability. So you get one shot.

Master of Cruelties and Rakdos the Defiler in 90% of games will swing once. They’ll be nearly permanent blockers thereafter.

Your best defense will be a tremendous offensive. Cripple and destroy each player one by one.

Combinations

One shot kill:

• Kaalia of the Vast and Master of Cruelties

One or Two:

• Heartless Hidetsugu and Sower of Discord

This works when their life total is the same. Otherwise it should kill the lowest life total opponent and put a dent into the higher life total opponent. With luck and timing attacking in the same turn will kill the remaining opponent if they were unlucky enough to survive.

• Heartless Hidetsugu and Wound Reflection

• Heartless Hidetsugu andGisela, Blade of Goldnight

• Heartless Hidetsugu and Archfiend of Despair

• Archfiend of Despair and Scourge of the Skyclaves
