Brago Golem Tribal

Commander / EDH*

SoWhimsical

This is my first ever primer and hopefully the first of a series of primers exploring some of the less popular tribes in the Commander format. Please let me know what you think and what I can do to improve the formatting and organization of my future primers!

Lately I've been trying to build an EDH deck that doesn't revolve around its commander, so I decided to go with a tribal theme for a tribe lacking a solid commander. My meta is semi competitive, and most of us have multiple decks at varying power levels, so I'm aiming for a fun and interesting deck first, and a fast, threatening game winner second with this deck. I chose golems mostly because Precursor Golem is one of my favorite cards of all time, and I want to realize its potential as a unique tribal lord. With it and other golem lords like the Splicer cycle as my base, I decided that token and artifact synergies would be where the deck would generate value, and that manipulating ETB effects would be the main way of accomplishing that. With that being said, let's go over the steps I took for assembling this deck.

I chose Brago, King Eternal to command the deck for several reasons. First, access to blue and white gives access to all of our main deck goals- tokens, artifacts, and flicker effects. Second, Brago himself has unlimited free flickers, provided that we can consistently swing him at other players. Even though he can draw hate from the table for his reputation in much more oppressive strategies, this isn't necessarily a bad thing for us. Brago makes a great distraction for the other central pieces of our deck, and just as planned this deck is able to function as intended with or without its commander on the field.
