So, Why Bolas? Show

Ah...Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker Where to start? Big Daddy Dragon has always been a favorite of mine. I started playing magic around the release of Return to Ravnica. That was 5 years ago now, funny knowing how short a time that is to some of you. But for me that was the start of high school and the start of the most expensive hobby I have (so far) yet to regret. Anyways, Bolas had just taken the stage for the second time with M13 coming out just a little bit ago. My group was having a blast with him, much to my despair. Seeing as I could barely understand how a Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord worked and was adamant Knight of Glory was over powered. But point being, Bolas was a really intimidating card to me. I told myself one day I would make him work to his fullest extent. So here we are some 5 years later, doing the best I can (probably) do.

Deck Breakdown

Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh, Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, Nicol Bolas, the Deceiver, There, done. laughs maniacally Anyways, in all seriousness.

The Logic Show

So with Hour of devastation right around the corner, there really hasn't been a better time to make a Nicol Bolas deck. Now I want to start by making a very important statement; I by no means consider myself a pro. I don't know all the juicy combos and synergies out there, and half the ones I do I can't really afford. But anyways with that in mind. I went for a "This is hopeless" Scenario. (As it should feel facing Bolas) Attack me? Wasteful. Control me? Good luck. Resist me? chuckles How futile.

The Minions Show

• Every good God has worshipers. Bolas is no exception. Here are his mighty followers; (he only takes the best)
• • Kess, Dissident Mage-Brings back my powerful spells, getting me out of any pinch that may occur.
• • The Locust God-Card advantage, fodder and, a recurring flying body? I'm in.
• • The Scarab God-Scrying and, a way to get my minions back? Alright.
• • The Scorpion God-Light removal and oh, more card draw? Always a fan.
• • Nekusar, the Mindrazer-More card advantage and punishing my opponents for their own.
• • Keranos, God of Storms-Card advantage and bolts. Always welcome.
• • Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind-Card advan-jeeze anyone else noticing a pattern?

The Combos Show

• • Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind -Yes I know I'm a bad person, yes I'm ashamed of myself.
• • Reiterate + Turnabout - A late game combo at best, but two good cards that go infinite combined. (With Mana)
• • Decree of Silence + Hex Parasite - Constant pressure to make opponents waste resources.
• • Day's Undoing + Notion Thief - I want new cards...No you can't have any.
• • Notion Thief + Whispering Madness - Refer to above.

The Control Show

Well, here we are, I'm impressed. If you're still here you must be at gunpoint, a masochist, or found something actually enjoyable! Over all, I'm pretty proud of how it's looking here. This was a lot of work for me and I hope it will be worth it. As the deck finishes construction I'd be happy to give updates as to how well it does in play. Just ask if you'd like.
