Equipment/Cat Tribal

6/15/2024

  • Removed Ajani's Sunstriker - The lifelink is a nice plus, but it just doesn't do enough to justify keeping it in the deck.
  • Removed Oketra's Monument - While it helps reduce the cost of white creature spells, the deck has so many colorless non-creatures.
  • Removed Plate Armor - A bit lackluster when compared to other equipment.
  • Removed Prava of the Steel Legion - The soldier tokens are really only useful if Maskwood Nexus is out. Even then, 4 for a 2/8 on my turn isn't amazing.
  • Removed Spear of Heliod - just ends up sitting on the field and there are other more useful ways to boost my creatures.
  • Removed Vanguard of Brimaz - I ended up not being able to target him enough.
  • Removed card:Whiteman Lion - Just ended up not being as useful as I hoped. It was often a dead card in my hand.
  • Removed Jazal Goldmane and added Eowyn, Lady of Rohan - Sure, Jazal is a cat, but I think Eowyn's ability outweighs her not being a cat.
  • Removed Hall of Triumph and added Anduril, Narsil Reforged - Anduril does roughly the same things but better and on an equipment.
  • Removed Helm of the Host and added Masterwork of Ingenuity - I need Helm for another deck and Masterwork fills enough of the gap Helm leaves.
  • Added Basilisk Collar - One of the cheapest and most useful little pieces of equipment.
  • Added Bilbo's Ring - There aren't any halflings, but I have other ways to reduce equip costs and the card just does so much.
  • Added Forge Anew - Really great utility for the deck.
  • Added Lay Down Arms - A must-have removal in a mono-white deck.
  • Added Swords to Plowshares - Really good removal.
  • Added Throne of Eldraine - I needed more draw and ramp.
  • Added Mace of the Valiant - One of my favorite equipments, especially in a deck that produces tokens.

6/22/2023 Changes: Adding more new cards with some better equipment and more cats.

**

  • Removed Stasis Snare. My play group tends to have decent removal for these kinds of enchantments.

  • Removed Kor Duelist. This has won me a few games, but I'm trying to make sure all the creature cards are cats.

  • Removed Mentor of the Meek. Not a cat and not the best draw engine.

  • Removed Masterwork of Ingenuity. Kind of feels bad to take it out, but I don't have a lot of ways to bounce it for the ETB.

  • Removed Hedgewitch's Mask. This made 0 difference in my deck, so I don't think I need it.

  • Removed card:Oreskos. Yes, it's a cat, but it's not doing as much for me as other creatures.

  • Added Tocasia's Welcome. I really need a bit more draw, and this should be rather consistent.

  • Added Kemba, Kha Enduring. A cat that cares about equipment and makes more cats. Exactly what I'm looking for.

  • Added Lion Sash. A cat that is also equipment? Yes. The graveyard hate is also relevant.

  • Added Robe of Stars. Exactly what I need to protect my commander.

  • Added Sigil of Valor. If I can nail down the token gen, this could be really good.

  • Added Thran Power Suit. Again, if I can get token gen going, this could be pretty good. The ward aspect is also relevant.

4/3/2022 Changes: The main goal was to add newly acquired cards and to assess where the deck needs improvement.

**

  • Removed Elspeth, Knight-Errant - while a great card with a very relevant ultimate ability, planeswalkers typically don't stay out long enough to matter in the long run and the creation of white soldier tokens that aren't cats or the ability to give a creature flying isn't worth drawing the ire of the table.
  • Removed Felidar Sovereign - while it is an actual win condition and while the deck has a lot of lifegain, it is not a lifegain deck and I wanted to free it up for a future Daxos/Heliod deck.
  • Removed Decree of Justice - I think I just had this for cycling. I do desperately need more draw in the deck, but there are better cards I could probably add. Plus, the white soldier tokens wouldn't be as relevant as more cat tokens.
  • Removed Glorious Anthem - I'm essentially adding this effect on a cat creature, so the enchantment isn't needed.
  • Removed Gods' Hall Guardian - This is just a cat with a big butt that can come out on turn 4. I'm adding better cats that do more.
  • Removed Livewire Lash - I needed to make room for other equipment and this was arguably my worst equipment.
  • Removed Master Skald - Recursion is nice, but so is removing this in order to add another cat.
  • Removed Moonsilver Spear - Again, needed to add more equipment and the angel tokens weren't going to synergize with the deck.
  • Removed Pyre of Heroes - Not even sure why I had added this to the deck since it's not doing any sacrifing.
  • Removed Seraphic Greatsword - Basically the same reason as Moonsilver Spear
  • Removed Temple of the False God - While the extra mana is nice when playing a color with so little ramp, there's nothing worse than having this in your opening hand and knowing you can't play it until turn six.
  • Removed card:True Convinction - I needed to lower my curve and my other 6 and 7-drops seemed better.
  • Added Balan, Wandering Knight - Just a solid equipment focused cat
  • Added Brimaz, King of Oreskos - More cats tokens!
  • Added Coat of Arms - Almost a must-have in any tribal deck, but especially so for one that cares about artifacts.
  • Added Hedgewitch's Mask - Hopefully, this will help me get in attacks.
  • Added King of the Pride - My cat that is replacing Glorious Anthem
  • Added Leonin Warleader - A cat that makes more cats.
  • Added Path of Ancestry - Since the deck desperately needs more draw, I'm hoping the scry for card selection will really help.
  • Added Plate Armor - The ward part will likely be irrelevant, but +3/+3 for potentially a 0 equip cost will always be relevant.
  • Added Regal Caracal - Buffs cats, gives them lifelink, and makes more cats on ETB. This card does a lot.
  • Added Sigarda's Aid - Flash and insta-equip almost feels unfairly broken in a deck like this.
  • Added Stoneforge Masterwork - Equipment that matters for tribal. Seems made for this deck.
  • Added Vanguard of Brimaz - I'm not sure how often I'll be targeting Brimaz with spells, since equip cost is an ability and not a spell, but I'll keep it around and test it out.
