Malfegor: Draw cards or die trying

Commander / EDH BR (Rakdos) Discard Enchantment Group Slug

kravus

My take on rakdos group slug / wheels.

A fairly aggressive mid-range type deck that focuses on trying to get a few threats out on the table that will impact the board in a big way, mostly ramping the first few turns and then setting up one of our key artifacts or enchantments such as Library of Leng, Waste Not, Spiteful Visions, Underworld Dreams, Anvil of Bogardan etc.

Wheeling constantly and making our opponents feel like they have to play their cards quickly plays into our favor, and we can play Malfegor in any situation where we need to pseudo board clear and take advantage of having to discard our hand, such as with a Loreseeker's Stone. One thing to note is that Library of Leng's replacement effect only happens due to us discarding due to some card's effect, not as a cost. For example, you WOULD be able to just put your whole hand back on top of your library after a wheel or if you just played Malfegor, but NOT if you have library of leng out and want to dump your hand to Zombie Infestation or some other cards like Tormenting Voice.

Primary win cons include Kederekt Parasite, and other wheel payoffs that deal tons of damage to players or wheeling into value cards like Waste Not or Geth's Grimoire.

The one combo in the deck is Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank, which can sometimes win the game on the spot with effects like Spiteful Visions to get the counters on Bloodchief Ascension easily.

Great recent additions to the deck include Glint-Horn Buccaneer, and Bag of Holding which both synergize very well with Malfegor.
