Kyle's Derevi: Merfolk Tap Dance

Commander / EDH*

LegendaryCreature-Podcast

Maybeboard

On The Legendary Creature Podcast, we decided to explore if it would be best to try merfolk tribal out with Kumena at the helm or if maybe another creature could command the tribe with some other key contributions. This is Kyle's stab at using Derevi as the commander. There was some inspiration from this deck here:

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/09-01-18-RwI-bant-merfolk/

The intent is to abuse Derevi's ability to gain advantage through tap and untap effects. Over the course of the game, the merfolk tap effects along with extra available mana from untapping lands should surge the pilot of this deck out in front of everyone else.

It is worth noting that if you try this out, it may be important to add a counter spell suite to the deck, depending on the people you are playing with. You simply need to keep your board state intact. Merfolk are slow, so getting slowed down by getting your work blown out of the depths is unacceptable.
