Isao could be a highly resilient commander with his own built-in regeneration ability... But why not extend that ability to other would-be samurai like, say... Chameleon Colossus and his ilk?

Part voltron (taking advantage of human centric equips for both Isao and the changeling clique), part goodstuff with some ramp and fight thrown in for good measure.
