Hearthstone EDH Project - Warrior

Commander / EDH*

NivMizzetTheFiremind

The Hearthstone EDH Project is an attempt to make an EDH deck for each class. Since the classes don't match to colors or combinations cleanly, I am instead matching Hearthstone classes to creature "classes". By that I mean that on the creature type line every creature has either a race, a class, or both. For example, a "Human Warrior" has the race Human and the class Warrior, so it is considered a Warrior card. Hunters and Warlocks are the exception, they will be using race instead of class.

To make sure that we are enforcing the "class" card restriction, we are using the following rules:

  1. Each deck must have at least 20 class cards (including the commander).
  2. At least 80% of the creatures must be the associated class or mention the class directly (including the commander). These will be considered class cards.
  3. Noncreature cards that reference the class directly are considered class cards.
  4. Any creatures not associated with one of the Hearthstone classes will be considered neutral. A deck can have at most 20% of its creatures be neutral.
  5. There can be no cards from any other class allowed unless it is also a card of the associated class. For example, the Warrior deck cannot have a creature that's a Druid, but can have a creature that's a Druid Warrior.
  6. There are no restrictions on race (other than Beasts and Demons).

Any creatures that aren't associated with a class will be considered

Obviously not every class in Hearthstone is represented in Magic, so we'll have to match them with the closest creature type.

Here are the associated classes:

  • Druid - Druid
  • Hunter - Beast
  • Mage - Wizard
  • Paladin - Soldier
  • Priest - Cleric
  • Rogue - Rogue
  • Shaman - Shaman
  • Warlock - Demon
  • Warrior - Warrior

One more thing, these decks should all be competitive. I don't want to just throw a bunch of creatures with the same type in a deck and call it a day. Therefore, there is no monetary budget for the decks, tribal synergy and combat damage don't have to be the only win condition, and no cards are off-limits (that aren't banned in EDH). Expect to see duals and fetches in every deck alongside Mana Crypt and Cavern of Souls.

The class cards are duplicated in the lists. There is a main list of all class cards, and then subcategories where they are broken up into groups. For purposes of inventory or class card counting you can just focus on the main list. The subcategories are mostly for my benefit so I can remember why I have a particular card in the deck.
