Eldrazi Sliver Squirrel... Scatman!

Commander / EDH Five Color Tribal

thegigibeast

In a competitive meta like mine, five color EDH decks are top tier combo decks that will (almost) never cast the commander, as it is a placeholder or a backup win condition that that is (almost) never required. I wanted to get away from competition a little and create something fun, something unique, something I would enjoy playing and something that would be different each time. And I wanted it to be five color.

This all started when I was looking on my LGS website and I saw they had Atogatog available... I decided it would be my commander. But I was struggling to find something it would be relevant in, except for atog tribal but let's face it that would not even win me the most casual game... That is when I thaught about changelings. They are atogs!

Uh, because it's Atogatog? Seriously, you should play him if you want to play a commander that is always used as a placeholder, but now you want to use him as a win condition in your deck. You want to play him to see the look on your opponents faces when they will get smashed by a huge Atogatog and they will die because of a creature they thaught was bad. Also, atog is like the best tribe, so do I need any other reasons?
Since this is a five color deck, any five color tribal commander could do it, here are some points about them:
  • Horde of Notions can let you get back your creatures from the graveyard.

  • Scion of the Ur-Dragon can get any changeling in your deck, put it in the graveyard and become a copy of it until end of turn.

  • Sliver Hivelord would make most of your creatures indestructible.

  • Sliver Legion would make most of your creatures really strong.

  • Sliver Overlord would let you tutor for changelings.

  • Karona, False God would let you buff most of your creatures, and even play around the downside. You would also get the party started with a lot of chaos.

  • Reaper King is also awesome. It can buff your changelings, being a lord himself, and is a strong removal, getting rid of any permanent anytime a changeling would come into play.

I needed a reason to play my foil Atogatog, but don't hesitate to try those other commanders, as they are surely better!
