This Commander deck is based around the winner of the Elder Dragon wars, Nicol Bolas. Sometimes its nice to play the villain and Nicol Bolas is Magics ultimate individual villain. With fingers (talons?) in plenty of pies across the multiverse, its also quite easy to pass off a loss as being just as planned Xanatos Gambit ;-)

The core of the deck is, as the deck name implies, based around Nicol Bolas and the cadre of minions hes built up over the past few years in the background. It also features every card that Nicol Bolas is named on, pictured on, or is quoted on (excluding Conflux, which is of course illegal for him to have in his deck in EDH).

In addition to the rather Timmy core listed above, the rest of the deck tries to utilise Nicol Bolass discard ability to force opponents to discard their hands. Previous versions of the deck played around with equipment and auras that granted the ability to ping (like Viridian Longbow) but Ive ended up removing those cards from the deck as a Commander of Bolass stature is far more useful attacking and killing in three hits.

There are also a number of creatures that force an opponent to discard when they deal damage to them, as well as a couple of discard matters cards to take advantage of that. Prior versions of this deck had few other cards that forced discard, but removing cards from your opponents hands is often a useful way of reducing their options in the game.

In addition to the discard theme, there are also a few cards in here that force opponents to make choices, none of which are palatable. In my opinion, this is a very thematic way to represent Bolas on the tabletop.
