WELCOME TO THE THUNDERDOME

This deck was put together because of three cards:

  1. Lovisa Coldeyes our Khal Barbarian/Berserker/Warrior lord.
  2. Rally the Horde, a fun never-seen card that can blow out a game should noone stop it. Thematic!
  3. Goblin Charbelcher, classic mono-R game ender that you'll never see elsewhere in Commander.

So how's this janky shit supposed to work? Essentially, we can kill the between 1-3 opponents with a well placed Rally the Horde or 1 at a time with Goblin Charbelcher. Of course, the HORDE can swing for lethal on multiple opponents if left unchecked as well.

But you're running lands! Running lands is an unfortunate requirement for the deck. Even running every bit of free mana (Simian Spirit Guide/Card:Lion's eye diamond/all moxes/Seething Song/Brightstone Ritual etcetc) you can't avoid having lands. At 14 lands, we average between 0-1 land in an opening hand... and typically without a 0-1 mana ramp card. At 28, we average 1-2 which is much more manageable.

  • 6 of 28 lands are fetches, synergy with Card:Crucible of Worlds - Especially Card:Thawing Glaciers
  • 1 of 28 is basic landcycling, for a total of 7/28 or 25% of lands being "fetches" to thin out the land count
  • Average 2 lands per opening hand, 18% chance of a mana rock/ramp
  • Many cards to help pull mountains out of the deck for Rally/Charbelcher: Card:Solemn Simulacrum/Card:Burnished Hart/Crucible of Worlds plus fetch/Card:Armillary Sphere/Surveyor's Scope/Thaumatic Compass   which becomes a Maze of Ith that generates mana/Wayfarer's Bauble/Chartooth Cougar/Card:Fiery Fall

Cards to obtain Charbelcher or other artifacts

  • Card:Kuldotha Forgemaster can sac itself for cost also
  • Card:Hoarding Dragon
  • Card:Goblin Engineer Can't grab belcher but helps boots/greaves/crucible/mana ramp
  • Card:godo, bandit warlord fetches boots/greaves/dowsing dagger/skullclamp and is a Barbarian

Draw and Discard

Card:Academy Raider/Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion/Faithless Looting/Thrill of Possibility/Tormenting Voice/Cathartic Reunion/Wheel of Fortune/Reforge the Soul

Discard Synergy

The Ol' Fashioned Way The deck is fairly capable of smashing face without Rally the Horde or Charbelcher by steadily dropping Barbarians/Warriors/Berserkers who aren't threats on their own, with a sudden addition of Lovisa Coldeyes/Card:Ogre battledriver/Savage Beating/Berserkers' Onslaught. Any one or two of these cards turn a few unthreatening creatures into absolute maulers.

Cards to consider

I'm still fiddling with the lands-mana ramp ratio, artifact recursion synergy, some other cards like Embercleave, additional artifact targets for [card:goblin engineer] etc. Also thinking to replace Okaun, Eye of Chaos and others with more optimal tribe choices.

Thematically, I had considered these cards but cut them for space to make the deck work better.... Howl of the Horde/Fury of the Horde/Card:in the web of war
