Purpose of Deck

With this The Haunt of Hightower deck we are planning on using a combination of Mill, Discard, and Removal to make our commander and creatures very large. In turn, the plan is to turn our large creatures into even larger ones.

Route 1 Big Creatures

The first plane to victory is using Altar of Dementia or Mindcrank with creatures like Drift of the Dead, Liliana's Elite, Sewer Nemesis, or Umbra Stalker to mill your opponents exponentially.

Route 2 Big Mana

Okay if your big creatures don't stick then the second plan is using cards like Crypt Ghast / Cabal Coffers with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth or Black Market with Geth, Lord of the Vault, Dread Summons, Shared Trauma, Sands of Delirium, and Torment of Hailfire

Playing the Game

Early game you should be looking to establish both a board presence and a graveyard presence, this being cards in all players graveyards. Altar of the Brood, Grindclock, and Mesmeric Orb are some of the early cards that will help you fill up the graveyards. Cranial Archive and Elixir of Immortality allow you to shuffle your graveyard after milling for large quantities of your own cards. The deck plays selective board wipes like In Garruk's Wake even though they are costly since route 2 is about generating large amounts of mana. If all else fails use Rise of the Dark Realms and Thrilling Encore to run them down.

Card Choice and Substitutes

• Death Cloud this card is brutal, but sacrificing our lands is counterproductive to the Big Mana plan.

• Bloodchief Ascension While this card goes infinite with Mindcrank we a trying to avoid 2 card combos. My personal opinion is to play with one or the other.
