I had been looking around for a strong control deck with a good amount of combo for some time. The problem was that the group I play with is not yet competitive enough to play against the Derevi, Empyrial Tactician I have always wanted or similar stax and heavy control decks. I didn't however want a commander that was mediocre even when built properly. My group is starting to build stronger and stronger decks and I want to have a commander that I can start a decent deck with and slowly build up to a strong competitive deck. When I saw Teysa, Orzhov Scion I was hooked. I looked for others for a long time but she always stayed with me. I now have a deck with her though it is not quite what is shown here. I am waiting for some more money to get the higher end cards in it and for people to grow comfortable with it and still be willing to play against her. Already though she has proven very strong and I have found I am often in a position of political strength as other players look to me to help with a troublesome opponent. Playing this deck, though, does requires a hefty understanding of the stack as well has a good amount of time playing with different interactions. You can't simply grab it and play.

The number of combos present is slightly gross. It can easily produce infinite mana, tokens, damage, creature wipes, draw your deck, and prevent opponents from ever having a hand. It is very easy to have at least one of these by turn 6-8 consistently. However, these combos usually require around 2-3 of the various key combo cards in play to work and 1 or 2 others as support to work. I found out the hard way that I can not simply hope to draw what else is needed as I will probably die before I get anywhere close. As such, I found I was required to play with a lot of tutors and card draw engines. But they allow Teysa to be very consistent and strong allowing a consistent answer.

Combos:

Reveillark + Karmic Guide + Sac Outlet = Infinite ETB triggers

Add in a Tidehollow Sculler or Mesmeric Fiend to strip your opponents of cards in hand. This one I'll explain as it is a more complicated and requires proper stack manipulation.

  • Play Karmic Guide

  • Sac Karmic Guide

  • Play TS or MF

  • Before their first ability resolves, sac them. Second trigger goes on the stack and resolves but they never exiled anything so nothing comes back. It is now in graveyard First ability resolves and exiles a card.

  • Play Reveillark

  • Sac Reveillark

  • Return Karmic Guide and TS or MF to field

  • Karmic Guide returns Reveillark

  • Repeat sacing process of TS or MF to remove another card. First card stays exiled since the new copy of TS or MF ignores the old ones interactions. Exile second card.

  • Repeat till opponents are sad

Can do similar things with other creatures for different effects by sacing and recurring.

Nim Deathmantle + Ashnold's Altar + Black Nontoken Creature = infinite ETB/LTB of desired creature. runescarred demon is great for this for tutors.

Darkest Hour + Any Altar = Infinite Mana

I know there are many more and I'll write them as I have time.
