Maybeboard

So many decks we know and love have one main goal? Right? Combo, Voltron, Reanimator, Tokens, Life-Gain, Group Hug, Etc. Well I have decided to take time to create a deck that is unique, a deck that can be a dual sided sword. This is that deck!

I was looking for a commander that could do two or three things at once for a reasonable budget. I looked on the commander sub reddit page, then this site, then EDHREC.com, and I found a commander that was not too expensive, like Rhys the Redeemed or Animar, Soul of Elements, and had some interesting ways of winning, like Teysa, Orzhov Scion or Rosheen Meanderer, In my case, the commander that seemed to have the right color combo for the plan I was trying to undertake, and the most fun deck to play overall, was Omnath, Locus of Rage! And this is how it all began!
This deck is meant to be making as big of a boardstate as possible! Many Angry Omnath decks just use the straight-forward way of ramping or elemental tribal, and this is not meant as a cookie-cutter deck, rather using combo with ramp for casting our big stuff, in the form of Boundless Realms and/or Splendid Reclamation combined with our commander to make a big landbase, and a creature wall that is very hard to penatrate when combined with Omnath, then use either Rude Awakening or Devastating Summons to make a big swing on anybody you want, then use your value outlets to make for maximum card advantage and damage spreading!
Value outlets are essential for the purpose of keeping our hand big, making big elemental walls, and then eventually making a giant boardswing!

The deck's main combo-pieces are Perilous Forays and Amulet of Vigor!

The Steps:

  1. Play a Land while Omnath is in play, and get a 5/5 Elemental Token

  2. Sacrifice the token to Perilous Forays in order to search for a basic land

  3. The land enters untapped because of Amulet and you get another 5/5, in addition hitting something (most likely a player) for 3 damage with Omnath's other ability!

  4. Rinse and Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have all your basics in your deck on the field and with this deck, you have probably killed the most threatening player by now! PERFECT!

Once you have this main combo down, you will have all your lands in play, activating all your land value triggers for all the lands in your deck! Next turn you can try one of two things as shown below:

  1. If you have a Titania, Protector of Argoth in play, use a Devastating Summons in your hand, tapping all your newly gained mana to float it in your mana pool, sacrificing all your lands to make some gigantic X/X Elementals, and with Titania in play, you make 5/3 Elementals for each land you had! Then if you have one, play a Splendid Reclamation to return all your lands from your graveyard into play, Untapped! Trigger all of your landfall value triggers once again! Then Attack with your new creatures if you have an Ogre Battledriver in play and WIN!

  2. If you have a Rude Awakening in your hand, and a Overwhelming Stampede in your hand as well, tap all your lands, then play Awakening Entwined, then with the remaining mana in your pool, play Stampede to give your lands and elementals +X/+X and trample and SWING FOR GAME!

This deck did great in it's first league night! It won in the pod against Xenagod, Horde of Notions, and Rhys the Redeemed, and another pod against Sydri, Medomai, and Atraxa! This deck seems to do great against decks that are aggressive on the ground, and against decks that have many boardwipes. Decks that go wide or have infinite combos are not the best matchups for us, either we get overcrowded on the battlefront, or we can't be fast enough to beat an infinite combo. In spite of this, we want to add artifact/enchantment hate in the form of Beast Within, and to go faster, I added to the main list Exploration and Gaea's Touch to go faster! I think this will improve on our 2-2 record for next week to crush league!
