Ezuri Primal Surge Wizard Tribal build

Commander / EDH

TRK27

Primal Surge Wizard tribal with Ezuri, Claw of Progress at the helm. The basic idea is that Wizards are a tribe of spell effects stapled to creatures, so they allow you to protect your combo and interact with opponents while still staying within Primal Surge's harsh deckbuilding restriction.

Ezuri helps you ramp into Primal Surge by sticking a bunch of counters on Gyre Sage or Viridian Joiner or Crystalline Crawler. He can also draw a ton of cards with Fathom Mage, make Cephalid Constable bounce entire boards, and make Profaner of the Dead and Simic Manipulator much more effective.

You find Primal Surge with Fauna Shaman or Vedalken AEthermage or Yisan, the Wanderer Bard or Birthing Pod or Momir Vig, Simic Visionary into Treasure Mage into Planar Portal. Then you cast Primal Surge and win with Laboratory Maniac off of Azami, Lady of Scrolls, Champion of Wits, etc.

If the Primal Surge plan fails you can fall back on Aphetto Alchemist / Illusionist's Bracers (have him target himself with the copied instance of his ability to get infinite untaps) combined with any of your numerous wizards with tap abilities. Draw your deck with Azami, Lady of Scrolls, lock opponents out of the game with Patron Wizard, or win outright with Prodigal Sorcerer.

As a third plan, you can sometimes sneak in a quick win with Sage of Hours, but this is a well-known and much-detested Ezuri combo and will get you targeted.

The final way to go about winning is simply to beat faces in with creatures that have had a bunch of counters stuck on them by Ezuri. The deck is controlling enough to protect this line of play, too. There are games I've won just by swinging over and over again with a 20/21 Trygon Predator while my Glen Elendra Archmage / Sage of Fables lock is online.
