Cadaverous Combo (ProsBloom EDH)

Commander / EDH

Shalok

This is a combo deck, the idea is to fuel massive draw X spells with Cadaverous Bloom and win by drawing your entire deck and playing Laboratory Maniac.

Some neat interactions with the deck, cards like Orochi leafcaller are in the deck to be able to repeatedly filter the mana from Cadaverous Bloom into blue mana for the draw spells. Damia is selected as the general for pure card advantage reasons. The deck has a lot of answers and two for ones in it, so a few counterspells, cards like acidic slime to deal with problem artifacts and enchantments and a good suit of wraths.

To protect the combo from sorcery speed removal the deck requires at least 7-mana to operate, Bloom, an X-draw spell (preferably two) and either a tutor or an enabler (Nomad or Leafcaller) in hand. If you don't have the enabler then you will not be able to guarantee you hit it and therefore may not be able to cast the next X-spell. Equally it is quite possible to miss with the first X-spell, if you hit the second it is very unlikely the combo will fizzle but the first one has the greatest possibility of failing. If you don't pull the trigger too early and have a decent amount of cards in hand for the 1st X-spell (I would recommend one for at least 10 to start with). And you don't play into obvious counter mana or removal mana (one of the biggest weaknesses of the combo is the Orochi Leafcaller) then combo will work a very high percentage of the time.

Other interactions to note, Enter the Infinite is a win on the spot if you have Bloom out and Reccuring Insight works very well once you have cast Prosperity or Skyscribing

This deck is strong, if I enter a game with it I am expecting to be competing for the win. As with most combo decks it struggles against heavy control so if someone in your meta plays a degenerate Grand Arbiter Augustin IV deck, first give them a slap and second don't play this deck as it just doesn't have the concentration of counterspells and recursion to fight through heavy control.
