Mission was to build a Boros deck that used it's commander and overcome the shortfalls of the color combination. Card Draw and Ramp had to rely on Artifacts and small utility creatures. Heavy use of artifacts lead to creatures that cheat artifacts into play or cheat equip costs. The result was a deck with more 2/2's than a ballet. Adriana seemed to be a great option to help beef up the weenie brigade.

To combat mass removal many of the creatures, artifacts, and enchantments help by adding attackers to the board without encouraging dumping your hand onto the battlefield to get blown out. This opened up room to hold up tricks to thwart your opponents.
