White Collar Crime

Commander / EDH

Poisontree

Winning a game of EDH is a lot like running a business. In business, it is in your best interest to appear to be an honest purveyor of goods, but not necessarily in your best interest to actually be that honest, know what Im saying? I call this deck White Collar Crime because it is essentially a Dimir deck masquerading in Bant colours. Like any good scheme it can be broken down into three key pyramid points.FORGERIES: How do companies that make fine products like Dr. Fizz and Safeway Select Brand Chips stay in business? The answer is that no one cares to notice the difference. This deck capitalizes on the fact that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The essential plan is to make token copies of creatures I control and then use Selesnya's Populate in a way that particular mechanic was never meant to be abused. (I already know I should include Rys, but as far as free agents go, man-alive he costs an arm and a leg, and I just can't justify that right now.)THEFT: I'd be a fool not to recognize that my competition has certain advantages, slight may they be, over me, so why not turn that on its head? For the most part I control the board through theft of threats. This is why I went with Rubinia Soulsinger as my CEO instead of something like Derevi. Obviously areas that overlap this element of the plan with the monsters Im going to mention in a second or the forgers above are a plus such as Roil Elemental or Phyrexian Ingester .WOLVES ON WALLSTREET: If the fakes are going to be good then the originals have to be good. I spare no expense here with the cost hovering around the 5-7cmc mark to get something genuinely worthwhile. But actually tracking the right person for the job down is not as easy as it seems, and this deck involves a fair amount of card draw and tutors to onboard the right person at the right time. Momir Vig, Simic Visionary over in HR is doing a fabulous job, but he is but one elf.The biggest area of improvement, and one of the key reasons I bring this deck to you in the first place, is that Im looking for inspiration on the beasts that I am aiming to duplicate. Inspired choices are what were looking for here. Anything that can eventually replace things like (dont tell him if you see him) the frankly uninspired Jugan, the falling star in the roster. But dont count out things that are murderous in large numbers such as Kalonian Hydra or the Bane of Bala Ged. These are ideal candidates in their own right. So, in summary, thats my pitch. If you have any suggestions or thoughts, Im always looking for new investors.Just dont tell anybody that looks like they work for the Azorius ok?
