Welcome to The Victorious Force !

You are looking at a Boros soldier-tribe and token deck. Its commander, Iroas, God of Victory, is a 7/4 legendary god with ' Indestructible. As long as your devotion to red and white is less than seven, Iroas isn't a creature. Creatures you control have menace. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to attacking creatures you control.’.

We have a soft-spot for token armies; flooding the board with weenies is fun. Making the weenies not so weeny anymore is even more fun. The aim of this deck is to go wide and have fun while doing that. It contains multiple ways to expand our army, as well as secondary benefits that come with the appearance of many soldiers. A number of protective measures and boosters will ensure our creatures stay intact and strong. We greatly appreciate feedback to any of our decks, including this one. Before you give any however, please take note of the following:

  1. Having fun at MTG, is more important to us than winning games. We want our opponents to have a fun time playing against us too. That makes it more likely people will want to play against us again. This attitude is reflected in the way in which we build decks. They do not need to be invincible; not even competitive. We are ok with decks containing infinite combos though, as they can produce some hilarious results. So well done if you can pull one off; especially if it is original.
  2. We no longer buy cards, but in cases that we feel a card really adds to our collection, we still trade them. This means that whenever you are suggesting a card we do not own, chances are slim it is going to end up in our deck. Please do not take this personally. Also, please do not let this stop you from making suggestions. Suggestions that do not make it into this deck, will still be mentioned on this page and might be used by others.
  3. Please do not forget to include the card(s) you would remove to make room for your recommended card(s).
  4. Please do not recommend any cards with infect or cards whose sole purpose is to destroy basic lands (non-basic lands are fair game). Our playgroup has banned them.

With that being said, thank you for all your support and if you should decide to use our ideas, have lots of fun with them.

Good soldiers support one another; they bring something to a fight that will benefit their comrades. This turns them into an effective army. We used this principle to create the collection of creatures you see before you in this deck. This choice does have a drawback; support that affects everything tends to have a higher CMC. Since we did not feel the need to compensate for this by adding more mana-sources, some might feel this deck lacks the aggressive capabilities of typical Boros decks. However, with just a little starting ramp, on average this deck produces up to four combatants on your side by turn four (with means to rapidly expand this number from this point forward).

So usually, we will prioritize ramping at the start, unless we can field something like Precinct Captain or Skyknight Vanguard by turn two. Ramp can come in the form of rocks (Arcane Signet, Chromatic Lantern, Sol Ring), land-tutoring (Land Tax, Weathered Wayfarer) and cheapeners (Ballyrush Banneret, Herald's Horn, Pearl Medallion, Ruby Medallion, Urza's Incubator). Should none of these be available to us, an early Sensei's Divining Top or Mentor of the Meek can help us get some additional draw. After the first few turns, the raising of an army can begin in earnest. Especially token-summoners like Brimaz, King of Oreskos, Hero of Bladehold, Militia's Pride and Assemble the Legion will be prioritized, as it will allow us to go wide quicker. Also, a few cards granting bonuses to our army should appear from this point on, but these will have secondary priority in the midgame. These would be cards like Field Marshal, Goldnight Commander, Daru Warchief, Ogre Battledriver and Shared Animosity. Also from this point on, Iroas himself should appear on the scene and allow our forces to attack with impunity each turn.

To close out games, we can make our creatures ridiculously powerful before delivering the final blow. Some of the more effective ways of doing this are Cathars' Crusade, Marton Stromgald, Gleam of Battle and Mirror Entity. We can also declare an attack, then cast Starstorm or Magmaquake to blow up everything in front of us (Iroas ensures our creatures will remain unharmed) and then attack. It is even possible to cast Purphoros, God of the Forge, then deal some massive damage with the appearance of tokens (especially Martial Coup is fun to use for this).

  • non-soldier creatures; because this is mostly meant as a soldier’s deck.
  • Yuan Shao, the Indecisive; would be perfect in this deck as he would create a paradox along with Iroas and thus a great way to make all of our soldiers unblockable. However, we have not come across the means to acquire him yet.
  • Boros Charm; not quite necessary in this deck. It can recover quite well from wipes and Iroas protects our troops from damage during attacks.
  • Return to Dust; we decided not to go heavy on targeted removal in this deck.
  • Smothering Tithe; we do not need this all that often; this deck can do a lot with little mana.
  • Thalia, Heretic Cathar; great card to slow down opposition, but cut in favor of increasing our own speed.
  • Catapult Master; using this card for removal seems counter-productive to us, unless we can somehow grant all of our troops vigilance.
