Muldrotha, the Gravetide. A very popular commander. A very fun one. But one I wanted to try to do something different with (even if that means not being very powerful). It started as some Sultai goodstuff, but I didn't want that for very long. But I wanted to stay with recursion, as I love graveyard interactions. But I thought and thought about what I could do that might be a little different. I finally came up with a few things that can get themselves into the graveyard that I can get back out regularly: Sagas and Planeswalkers.

What Does This Deck Actually Do?

At it's heart, it's really a Sultai value train. Muldrotha makes just about everything reusable, and that's what I focus on. The Sagas lend themselves to this by their very nature; the fact that they have to get sacrificed after three or four turns. Planeswalkers do this to themselves, as well, and are often just targets for removal. That's ok. I'll bring 'em back. The Sagas and Planewalkers offer some fun value.

Tokens

There are quite a few token makers in the deck, several of them the uncommon Planeswalkers. Arlinn, Voice of the Pack, Kasmina, Enigmatic Mentor, Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools, and Vraska, Swarm's Eminence all lend themselves to our go-wide strategy. Rite of Belzenlok brings a great big fatty to the board, along with providing fodder for the Demon it brings. Tormod, the Desecrator synergizes wonderfully with Muldrotha out, adding zombies to the board for doing what she wants to do anyway. With Muldrotha and Tormod on the board, it's not hard to gain three or four zombies a turn. The tokens are perfect for protecting the Planeswalkers. Kamahl, Heart of Krosa can help me finish with the tokens.

Sagas

More and more sagas are coming out all the time, and what's listed here could change over time. I may even just add more as time goes on; be kind of like a Muldrotha Enchatress build. I like the design space of the sagas, and stuffing some in here, even not great ones, seems fun to me. Most offer some usefulness to the deck, either milling or killing things, and providing a little utility along the way. And when I have to sacrifice them, I can cast them back with Muldrotha to use all over again.

Song of Freyalise is fantastic in this deck. Once I get a board state with some token creatures out, casting the Song makes them mana dorks for the next two turns. Being able to bring this one back from the graveyard is great. Tymaret Calls the Dead and The Binding of the Titans are great for milling resources into the graveyard.

Planeswalkers

The Planeswalker aspect here is different. I don't have a lot of super powerful Planeswalkers in my collection. However, sets like War of the Spark put out a whole bunch of uncommon Planeswalkers that have some fun abilities and interactions. So, I decided to start stuffing them into this deck to see how it'll play out. Being uncommons, there aren't a lot of Ultimates going around, so they are more like Mediocre-Friends than Super-Friends. But I'm ok with that; I don't have to blow out the table to have a good time, and I'm not running any kind of Doubling Season effects to do so. I've got few decent Walkers worked in, but most of them are the uncommons with some nice static abilities and some minus effects that can support my board.

Is this a great deck? Probably not. But I'm looking forward to seeing how much fun I can have with it.

Updates Add

Made some changes here. Swapped Survival of the Fittest, which is a great card for pitching into the graveyard, for Hermit Druid, which will do it much more quickly, and get more than just creature permanents into the 'yard. Switched Wood Elves for Springbloom Druid, and also added Squandered Resources (thanks, Lhurgyof). Also added Teferi, Temporal Archmage and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries to the superfriends list.
