Hey, you haven't really made a complete deck yet to begin optimizing? Since there's only 14 lands here and you have to know that's not enough lands for a Commander deck?

There's some good ideas here, such as stealing opponent's creatures, attacking with them and then sacing them, but you want more sac outlets for this strategy. Making opponents discard cards is good, but giving an opponent the choice of what card to discard can be problematic for Tariel since opponent is not going to discard a creature. There's some reanimation and lots of recursion here which is good in these colors, but there's few enablers to get your creatures into your graveyard.

Some causal budget deck building advice to get started.

To start add 36 lands, they can be all basic lands to begin, can change some to dual lands later. Have 36 lands so you fill all the spots that are needed for lands and to clearly see how many cards have to be cut for lands. The double faced cards represented as lands here are all terrible cards for the mana cost. Cut them all and replace them with basic lands?

To add more lands next cut all the Pacifism removal? This type of creature removal doesn't interact with Tariel, Reckoner of Souls because it doesn't kill opponent's creature putting it into opponent's graveyard. If you want to utilize Tariel's ability then your opponent's creatures have to be put into graveyards, not exiled or stuck on the battlefield unable to attack or block.

The next cards to cut to add more lands are the high mana cost creatures who don't do enough for Tariel, Reckoner of Souls. Tariel is the high mana cost spell you want to cast more than the rest, the other spells played should have some interaction with him or interact with opponent's creature in some way such as In Garruk's Wake. Keep Wake, cut the rest?

Cards to cut last are some that just aren't doing enough for the mana cost and don't have any interaction with Tariel, Reckoner of Souls or the other strategies being played.

All these cuts make enough spots for 36 lands. When you have enough lands then you can begin to optimize the rest of your deck. Good luck.

Nice, multimedia! That has me off to a good start.

UPDATED ADDITIONS:

Brainstorm

Sol Ring

Command Tower

Triton Shorestalker

Treasure Cruise

Consign / Oblivion

Triton Shorestalker

Krydle of Baldur's Gate

Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar

Bolas's Citadel - I just like playing this card when I have the mana to pull it off.

Overwhelmed Apprentice - A placeholder until I can get a few more powerful scry cards.

UPDATED CUTS:

Temple of the Dragon Queen - I honestly don't know how this even got in here, but "Bye, Dragonicia!" along with 2 basic swamps and 1 island.

Hoard Robber

Gravedigger

Bone to Ash -- Wasn't suggested, but I honestly never use it when it's in my hand anyway...

Zombie Ogre

Scion of the Swarm

Still on the lookout for some others, especially Fallen Shinobi cause I want a set for my Modern Ninja deck as well!

Hey, you're welcome.

The first cuts to consider are Temple of the Dragon Queen and 3 other lands since 40 lands is too much. In place of some lands add some lower CMC scry/draw such as Brainstorm, Augury Owl, Preordain, Telling Time. The idea is these cards can replace lands because they're one or two mana, easy to cast, that can help to find lands if you need a land, find/draw other cards or most important help to setup the top card of your library for Yuriko. The scry 3 of Augury Owl is nice since it's a flying creature to return to your hand to cast again.

The more lower CMC creatures who have evasion or can give itself or another creature evasion you add the better the creature base will be for Yuriko. There's a large amount of budget creatures to choose from therefore there's really no reason to play many nonNinja creatures who don't have evasion.

Some other cards to consider cutting:

A more complex budget interaction is Cunning Evasion or Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar with Yuriko and other Ninjutsu. You keep bouncing Ninjas who are blocked and then Ninjutsu them while still in combat. This is helpful with Yuriko and other Ninjas because they will not always have evasion. Any Ninja who has a trigger when it does combat damage to a player such as Ingenious Infiltrator benefits from being able to be blocked then bounced and then Ninjutsu while still in combat, before combat damage step.

Some other cards to consider adding later on that are a little more expensive price, but still budget:

  • Arcane Adaptation: this makes all creatures you control a Ninja as well as a Rogue. This is a powerful effect because then each creature who does combat damage to an opponent triggers Yuriko.
  • Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire: it's a Rogue who's boast ability can tutor for any card and put that card on top of your library. You can activate boast at any time after Varragoth is declared as an attacker thus you can set up the top card of your library in combat before Varragoth dies if that is what is going to happen and before you do combat damage to a player.
  • Fallen Shinobi: Ninja with a potentially busted trigger when you do combat damage to an opponent, but the power of it depends on what cards you exile from the top of your opponent's library.

I like Scion of the Swarm But I’m afraid it’s CMC is too high to really be efficient. Anything closer to Ajani’s Pridemate that legal and in orzhov colors?

Hey there, nice deck! There are some good pieces in here. I feel like there are some more optimal cards that could be added/swapped, but I'm not big into standard, so take my suggestions as you will!

Kazandu Nectarpot I think would get you more value than Vampire Spawn, for multiple triggers instead of just one to combo off of Dina. Marauding Blight-Priest is another great combo piece that stacks with Dina, I'm just not sure who you'd want to switch out for - maybe Scion of the Swarm?

Crypt Ghast and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth would be a good way to generate a bunch of mana in addition to getting lifegain triggers from extort! With any 2cmc commander Mox Amber is a decent ramp spell for 0! Also I saw Veinwitch Coven put in a lot of work at prerelease!

Bloodthirsty Aerialist and Scion of the Swarm also seems to gel really well with your deck, getting HUGE with lifegain triggers and also providing a big body for your commander's other ability! Something like Sanctum Seeker also seems like it'd work, doubling down on your commander's trigger.

Oathsworn Vampire also seems like it should go infinite somehow in your deck, I'm trying to find a way!

I don't know if I don't see it, but you have both the altar and Deathmantle in the deck, which also goes infinite with any creature that can make tokens, something like Grave Titan or anything with Fabricate like Marionette Master , which if you can make enough tokens can get you infinite ETBS as well as make your commander infinitely big!

You're also running both Aetherflux and Bolas's Citadel, you can make it an infinite with Sensei's Divining Top , where you cast it then do the draw trigger to put the top on top of the library, then cast it again, all while gaining life from the Resovior. Though running any combos comes down to preferance!

While a little more CMC Noxious Gearhulk Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper and Savra, Queen of the Golgari all seem to be what you'd like in the deck! And if you lean into the sacrifice, Black Market can be another decent way to get a lot of tokens!
