WOAH MAN! MY NAME IS XUN XYU AND I'M HERE TO SHOW YOU XTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME SIDE OF MONO BLACK.

Xun Yu, Wei Advisor is a commander that looks pretty underwhelming... and he is... and his name is absolutely terrible; Seriously who's brilliant idea was it to have his name start with an X followed by a Y, it's completely disorienting.

Oh right, good things about him. Despite his subpar ability, he actually lends himself to a variety of decks. He looks like a good general for a suicide black deck. Infect is always fun. But I went with something a little more interesting. Mono black tokens.

Tokens are actually more common effects in black than you'd think. Abhorrent Overlord, Bloodline Keeper, Ghoulcaller Gisa, Hangarback Walker, Myr Battlesphere, Overseer of the Damned, Pack Rat, Sifter of Skulls. Get your random tokens here.

And while we are short on actual anthems, we get sac effects with stuff like Eldrazi Monument, Phyrexian plaugelord and sac incentives like Grave Pact and Mortician Beetle.

Unfortunately I think my least favorite part of this deck is the commander. This shell has lots of potential, just not with Xun Yu at the helm. And switching him out for Drana, Liberator of Malakir or Ghoulcaller Gisa or really any black commander would make the deck much better.

So then the question becomes, if your deck is actually good but your commander is rotten eggs, how good is your deck?

at least we know it's EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE111111EEEEME!
