Shirei, King of the Dorks

Commander / EDH Mono-Black Stax

Make way for the king, for even though he may be seem meek he and his army are relentless and never ending. For once the dust come to settle in this fight of attrition there will only be one man left standing to walk out alive.

For anyone who isn't familiar with how Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker decks work, it is a attrition style deck where you try to net value each turn by using Shirei's ability. You do this by using one or less power creatures (dorks) with decent enter/leave battle field triggers, recursive effects, or disruptive abilities along with a sac outlet that nets you some form of advantage. Since are creature come back during every end step as long as the Shirei makes it out alive we can turn those small advantages and turn them into a drastic amount of card advantage. With this card advantage we can then lock out players through some shape or form of effects such as Mindslaver locking the entire table infinitely , messing with there top decks with Thoughtpicker Witch, or causing them to no longer produce mana that isn't black with Contamination.

Shirei happens to be not only happens to be the first EDH deck I ever built but happens to embodied what I like to do when I play magic. That is doing very intercut series of events correctly and getting rewarded for it. Although I may get mentally fried after a few games with this deck I always love the mental challenge of trying to turning this pile of bulk into a well oiled card advantage machine. Making ever one at the table scared of the army of dorks heading there way.
