Prez Koumori's Deathharmonicon

Commander / EDH Tokens WB (Orzhov)

PrezKoumori

Prez Koumori's second version of his Deathharmonicon deck, revolving around Teysa Karlov to double token, damage, and draw effects. The revision includes an improved mana base and new draw engines in Phyrexian Arena, Erebos, Bleak-Hearted, and God-Eternal Bontu. Also has many more tutors for situational spots, looking for Skullclamp, or help set up for the Deathrender combo between cheating out creatures (Demonic Collusion, Diabolic Tutor, Beseech the Queen, and Idyllic Tutor), and more effective board control with Liliana, Dreadhorde General (also a great card draw engine), Hour of Revelation, Grave Pact, and Grave Titan.

Upgrades to this version that may come soon include Anguished Unmaking, Diabolic Intent, Blasting Station, Phyrexian Tower, even further mana base improvements, etc.

This is not yet officially confirmed, but it's likely that this deck has executed the first "Deathrender hot potato" combo. This combo requires the following:

  1. Teysa Karlov on the field.

  2. Deathrender on the field and equipped to any creature other than Teysa Karlov or materials below.

  3. Any sac outlet. Preferably Carrion Feeder, Yahenni, Undying Partisan or Ashnod's Altar. Krav, the Unredeemed, Erebos, Bleak-Hearted, Teysa, Orzhov Scion, or Liliana, Dreadhorde General are acceptable fixes until one of the three free outlets are found.

  4. Any draw engine triggered on creatures dying. (Erebos, Bleak-Hearted, Grim Haruspex, Midnight Reaper, Smothering Abomination, Liliana, Dreadhorde General, Skullclamp, or Dark Prophecy.)

Sacrifice the creature equipped with Deathrender. First resolve any effects that allow you to draw cards upon the creature dying, then cheat out a creature from your hand twice since Teysa Karlov is out. The 2nd creature will keep the equipment. Repeatedly sac, draw and cheat out creatures until you find creatures that deal damage to the table upon seeing a creature dying (Blood Artist, Cruel Celebrant, Syr Konrad, the Grim, Vindictive Vampire, Zulaport Cutthroat, or a one-off with Kokusho, the Evening Star) and win. Death damagine creatures must of course be cheated out with the 1st Deathrender trigger instead of the 2nd. This was first seen on the January 9th stream of Magic Man Games' "Magic Madness".
