The deck you are seeing relies less on the commander, and more on the strength of individual cards. Play efficient creatures early, deal damage, win late game with one of our multiple late game cards.

Looking at Daxos, Blessed by the Sun you might fall into a trap and think that you have to play all the lifegain cards in the world to make a deck. That's not the case, however.

We only want SOME lifegain. We have a soul sister in our command zone, so we don't have to fill our deck with four other cards that work in a similar fashion, lifegain doublers etc. With that approach, we have many free slots in our deck, that we're gonna fill up with a bunch of just really good white cards.

We play a bunch of efficiently-stated creatures at 2-4 CMC, and we don't hesitate to attack early. Sometimes, when we happen to gain a little bit of life, we can utilize it with Archangel of Thune, Dawn of Hope and Well of Lost Dreams, our only (but strong) lifegain payoff cards, and we can do that quite reliably despite not going full lifegain.

We win later in the game by either playing late game creatures like Mommy Avacyn and Daddy Ulamog, or pumping our early and mid-game creatures on the board with anthems, like True Conviction or Scary Alien Lady. We can also catch people by surprise and play Gauntlets of Light on Daxos, turning him into possibly the biggest creature on the board.

KEY CARD: Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. It's a must.
