Knight of the Holy Nimbus

Creature — Human Rebel Knight

Flanking (Whenever a creature without flanking blocks this creature, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.)

If Knight of the Holy Nimbus would be destroyed, regenerate it. (Tap it, remove it from combat, and heal all damage on it.)

: Knight of the Holy Nimbus can't be regenerated this turn. Only your opponents may activate this ability.

Nice build, as usual! Straight to the point, and nice synergy. As far as suggestions, I think Honor of the Pure could be a nice buff alongside your Glorious Anthem, maybe in place of Serra's Embrace. I agree with Balaam__ that the Deftblade Elites are a little weak. I'd go for the classic White Knight or Knight of the Holy Nimbus for fun. He's a little on the expensive side, but Darien, King of Kjeldor could be really strong here as a one-of.

Zirda sees all abilities "you activate". So it definitely sees Torrent Elemental in exile. The way Zirda is worden, it should even reduce your cost for an opposing Knight of the Holy Nimbus .

Played about 4 games now and some changes were made let me know what you think...
The following were added: Heliod, Sun-Crowned, Soul Warden, Aetherflux Reservoir, Sun Titan, Linden, the Steadfast Queen, Ajani's Pridemate, Daxos, Blessed by the Sun, Smothering Tithe, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, Flawless Maneuver, Altar of the Pantheon.

In replacement of the following; Skybind, Gerrard's Battle Cry, Daybreak Coronet, Consecrate Land, Celestial Dawn, Order of Leitbur, Glittering Lion, Clergy of the Holy Nimbus, Order of the White Shield, Brightling, Herald of Anafenza, and Knight of the Holy Nimbus

Celestial Dawn was hard to remove, but i was unsure how it worked with Blood Moon or Emeria, The Sky Ruin. So let me know your thoughts. I went more life gain, but it keeps me around a bit longer. With most of the creatures being low powered unless pumped up by other creatures, something was needed Sun Titan gets things back the mana cost for most critters is 3 or under. and if titan doesnt work or is removed Emeria, the sky ruin gets him back. Sun Titan and Kami of False Hope is so fun.

Shagoth Let me know what you think, its early in the process. i am interested in y

@OddParsley

This deck isn't designed to combat any specific meta. It's a Pet Deck for fun. I do put in the effort to make it the best it can be, but I don't consider it suitable for high level play.

2cmc Knights in general are exceedingly lackluster. I've spent some time considering every option available, and the two I'm using I feel are the best of what little there is.

I don't believe Knight of the Holy Nimbus is any good. It doesn't have any synergy or other utility. Being annoying isn't enough.

New Benalia and Shefet Dunes give this deck additional value instead of wasting slots on Basics.

  • New Benalia provides card selection, and there are opportunities to play it without significant tempo loss.
  • Shefet Dunes is late-game reach.

Deckthinning is statistically negligible. The benefits from it won't manifest within the length of an average game. And this is an aggro deck, so I don't want games lasting long to begin with. Fetchlands won't be a part of this deck unless there are lands worth fetching.

@PurePwnage

Aether Vial doesn't function properly in this deck:

  • My creature count is far too low. Look at any 5c Humans or Bant Spirits deck list and you'll see them running 30+ creatures.
  • All of my Knights are vanilla attackers. Decks like 5c Humans and Bant Spirits have a collection of ETB triggers and other disruptive effects they can abuse with Aether Vial at instant-speed.
  • Aether Vial does nothing for the noncreature haymakers this deck benefits from.

Aether Vial doesn't instantly make your deck better. Your deck has to work around using Aether Vial. Otherwise, you have a clunky artifact not doing anything.

zephyr_chang Thanks for the suggestions! I really like Knight of the Holy Nimbus and I'm going to swap it for Leonin Skyhunter .

Hopefully, the price of History of Benalia drops after it rotates out of Standard - lots of value in that card. Knight of the Holy Nimbus is also pretty resilient and I would include that in some number over Leonin Skyhunter and/or Knight of the White Orchid , which I think are the more underwhelming creatures you have right now. Benalish Marshal could also be a contender over Mirran Crusader , which seems to me more of a sideboard card for G/B creature matchups.

@ Gloglok I know card advantage can be very difficult in mono white (It works with card value). For me Arch of Orazca cost too much as a card draw engine. I can recommend you following to try out:

Lifegain plan: Swap all cards below 5 mana except Weathered Wayfarer , so you can use Dawn of Hope . Key cards for a lifegain plan would be cards like Resplendent Angel , Archangel of Thune , Auriok Champion , Serra Ascendant

Add blue or black: Kills devotion and then the deck goes into white-blue or white-black prison control (see death and taxes) with angels as some finishers

Artifacts: not really productive to the devotion plan but Tower of Fortunes is one solid card draw engine. A while back i tested also Tamiyo's Journal but it both of them were too slow for me. (You can still try it tough)

Next update i do: (Mana base adjustments) Goes in: 4x Flagstones of Trokair + 1x Ghost Quarter Out: Field of Ruin

Next tests i do: Serra the Benevolent , requires more flying creatures to work properly. Angel of Jubilation stops enemy fetchlands, phyrexian mana, and any pay life effect but not bolt proof! , Archangel of Tithes actually perfect for this deck, swap for boardwipe Gideon Blackblade , requires even more low mana creatures like Knight of the Holy Nimbus which is actually a 3/3 indestructible for double white
