Springjack Shepherd Discussion

Counters and life good sir! Counters and life! +1 Good of you to display such pieces of high quality magic art!
Are you not waiting for the advent of the gracious Archangel of Thune ? She rocks hard. So does Divinity of Pride. You want lifegain for that good old ghost. I see your playing the sacrifice game like you would with Teysa, Orzhov Scion, but your commander is more lifegain oriented I believe. Of course, you do you. But just saying.
If you are more interested in the token/sacrifice gimmick, maybe a Twilight Drover or a Springjack Shepherd could be of help? Also Secure the Wastes and Deploy to the Front. Oh! and I looooove Deathbringer Liege for the mechanics, but also for the art...
Have a nice day/night!

Although I'm more of a -player, I've always loved devotion decks! :)
If you're looking for sideboard options in a devotion deck there are some pretty neat options in white:
- Leyline of Sanctity against discard / burn / certain combo decks
- Nevermore against combo or to shut down key cards
- Devout Lightcaster against black decks
- Kor Firewalker against burn
- Leonin Relic-Warder as enchantment hate
- Rest in Peace against deck that rely on the graveyard
Since you're playing a reasonably high amount of creatures I would probably move Wrath of God to the sideboard. Journey to Nowhere seems like a good creature removal spell that adds to your devotion count as well as being cheaper than your other removal spells.
What do you think of Springjack Shepherd? Given that you have an enchantment that pumps your goats he can be another win condition.

Also cheap enchantemts pumps and make the small creatures scarier like Honor of the Pure

Hey there I noticed your deck here after scanning through decks similar to one I was editing.
I know you want more white mana symbols for the chroma effect on Springjack Shepherd but I just feel Consul's Lieutenant is good enough to replace one or two of the Hearthfire Hobgoblin. I love the double strike on a 2/2 but the 2/1 for 2 plus first strike Renown 1 and a great renown effect for a wide swing win con!
Let me know what you think.

Nice suggestions. I had completely forgotten about Springjack Shepherd. What do you think of the changes I've made?

Any deck can win on any given day! To help though I would cut the Sun Titan, He probably cost too much with 21 lands.
You're missing the best Kithkin! Gotta have Springjack Shepherd! He gives you goats eaqual to your devotion to white, gotta be a 4 of. You combine it with Mirror Entity and you can pump your whole team to high heaven. The best part is that he counts as a Kithkin too. Galepowder Mage can flicker the Shepherd too for even more goats.
Other than the addition of Springjack Shepherd+Mirror Entity, I think you should work on the removal. O-Ring is very slow and while its great that it can hit anything, its probably not fast enough. If you don't have money for Path to Exile, which is the best option, you can play Journey to Nowhere. I know it looks worse than O-Ring but the fact that is cost 1 less is probably important in an agro deck like this. Otherwise you have to use conditional spells like Reciprocate or Valorous Stance.
My suggestion would be this:
Sun Titan -1
Good luck getting your Mutavault!

Interesting...so, it's white devotion deck without Enduring Ideal.
Ok, so a quick search on gatherer, and it looks like white devotion's options are impressively bad.

Hey MrKrabs, thanks for the feedback!
As far as Auriok Champion, Ranger of Eos, and Recruiter of the Guard go, I would totally run them if I could get ahold of them. If I was in a position to buy them, I'd do it. But I'll stick them in my maybeboard for now to keep under consideration.
Springjack Shepherd looks pretty cool, and I think my white devotion could cause a big payoff for it, so I'll totally try to squeeze that one in!
Rally the Ancestors looks like a solid option in place of Immortal Servitude. My concern with Servitude was that it has to hit a specific CMC, and even though I'm pretty high in 2- and 3-drops, I was kind of worried it would sit in my hand and not do much too often, which has seemed to be the case. Rally looks like a good replacement, and obviously the exile part is something that can be worked around with sac outlets, but my original reason for using Servitude was not necessarily to get back sac fodder, but to get back important pieces that benefit from the sacrifices going on. I know reanimation isn't a huge focus of this deck, but I feel like it would bite me in the butt to not have a little more beyond Sheoldred, Whispering One and Hell's Caretaker.
Ad Nauseam and Children of Korlis look interesting. Vizkopa Guildmage's inclusion in the deck is tenuous. She's probably better for Karlov than Teysa (though still pretty good with soul sister-like effects in play), and this is really more of a Teysa deck. I just kind of thought Karlov would be fun every now and then, but if I were to focus on him, there's a lot I would change, such as definitely including Animation Module.
Question for you about your deck though. I see you have Aetherflux Reservoir in it. I recently put this in my deck and had a good time in it during a game. Obviously my deck has a fair amount of lifegain, though it could be (and will get) better. But I'm just wondering how consistent it will be. Even though I played a modest amount of spells, the lifegain form the Reservoir did actually save me in a game and even got me to a point where I could fire it off. Do you feel like it's been consistently worth playing in your deck? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about it.
