I'll Have What They're Having (Clone Tribal)

Commander / EDH* GU (Simic) Multiplayer Tempo Theme/Gimmick Tribal

junum

Hello and welcome to my rendition of clone tribal! Today, i'll be playing your deck, so i hope you don't mind a mirror matchup. This is a tribute to my first and classic commander build i made, Momir Vig, Simic Visionary clone deck. It was a lot of fun, but nowhere near as extensive in the clone category as this deck. Not only does this deck have an abundance of ways to play other people's cards for cheap, it also has cards of its own that have sweet cloning effects, such as Progenitor Mimic when added to Hornet Queen, Permeating Mass, or even Precursor Golem. These, while not being directly involved in making things i play into things someone else is trying to play, perform exceptionally in the role they have of creating other creatures exactly like themselves, and morphing into massive swarms when replicated. The typical attack formation used is to progenitor mimic something, then play several cloning creatures upon the progenitor mimic, which become additional progenitor mimics themselves, thus creating massive amounts of something ridiculous, which preferably has an ETB effect.

When it comes to cloning legendary cards, i have 2 choices: Sakashima the Impostor, or Mirror Gallery . Mirror gallery is much preferred, yet is harder to reach than Sakashima. It allows me the versatility of making as many clones of any given legendary as my heart desires, such as 30 copies of Omnath, Locus of Rage so i can ramp out too many elemental tokens. Easily performed however, is fetching Sakashima possibly the best play of all: Momir Vig, Simic Visionary + Sakashima the Impostor . Because Sakashima has no name change when he clones a card, it allows me to defy the legend rule, doubling my fetch triggers, and creating an exceedingly efficient tutor engine for my clones. I have even included a fun Legacy Clone combo, with a recent acquisition from From the Vaults: Lore. By using the Copy Land ability of Thespian's Stage, i am able to immediately create a ready-to-sac version of Dark Depths, thus providing the opportunity for plenty of turn 3 Marit lage fun. I have the capacity to dig out these combo pieces by cycling my Tolaria West, or via a Crop Rotation.

I choose to run Momir Vig as the commander for 2 reasons in this clone tribal. My primary reason is that he functions excellently as a tutor machine for a variety of cards, and in a creature based deck he excels in keeping the player with plenty of cards in hand for toolbox-style responses. Secondly, the addition of green allows me to expand my selection of cloning effects to include the key Progenitor Mimic, along with allowing for a strong base to ramp with, and creatures of my own to clone in the event of a drought on the board.

+1s and suggestions greatly appreciated :D

A few decent combo examples:Precursor Golem + Spitting Image , Precursor Golem + Stolen Identity , Progenitor Mimic + any token creature in my deck, Sakashima the Impostor + Vigor for ultimate +1/+1 counter generation
