Creature (1)

This deck used to be led by Yenna, Redtooth Regent and took advantage of Yenna's ability to copy Auras. However, although I loved the idea, the deck as it was simply did not work. It was far too slow and I rarely managed to use Yenna's ability in the way I wished to, which usually ended up making it a Voltron style deck - really not what I intended that deck to be. It was a hard decision, but I decided to make considerable changes to it in order to make it more effective and playable and reduce the Voltron element, which is just not something I particularly enjoy.

Nonetheless, Aura and Enchantment decks are still among my favourite archetypes, so in finding a way to rework this deck, I wanted to keep its general theme. At the same time, I wanted to make it a bit different from the usual enchantress decks (something that inspired my original Yenna deck in the first place), since these can become quite repetitive. I was thinking about what Auras are good at, when the answer showed itself right in front of me: they give abilities, and lots of them too. So here it is, my keyword soup Aura deck, led by Akroma, Vision of Ixidor and her wee pet Anara, Wolvid Familiar!

The idea is pretty simple: cast creatures, most of which already have keyword abilities, give them more of these with auras and other similar cards, and make them even bigger with Akroma. Anara, Wolvid Familiar is admittedly there mostly for the colour identity (although it does synergise a bit by having and giving two useful keyword abilities - indestructible and partner). Indeed, the real second commander is Odric, Lunarch Marshal, who can really give you the win if cast at the right moment in combination with Akroma.

While Auras are perhaps not the best way to build an Akroma deck, since, unlike equipments, you lose them along with your creatures, I think this is exactly what makes this deck special. It blends the aggro and anthem themes of Akroma with the perks and synergy of enchantment decks, creating a lethal combination. Moreover, there are multiple ways to bring back from the graveyard the lost auras or to limit this disadvantage.

A more detailed primer will come soon, in the meantime let me know what you think of this reworked version and feel free to comment with any suggestions you may have!
