I am playing Dogmeat, Ever Loyal because I am a German Shepherd owner. Dogmeat does not look exactly like my boy, but He is still the same breed, so that defines my choice. It also helps that my friendly LGS, Phoenix Cards and Games, allows me to bring Buster to the store for Commander PreCon League Games.

We have no added so many pieces and expensive cards that the deck has changed almost 100% from the PreCon. We stroke a delicate balance between being a dedicated Equipment Deck or an Enchantress style build. We have cards which support BOTH, and those are priorities because truly it will be difficult to stop Dogmeat if we can simply tutor up answers that are different based on the matchup.

Winning the Game:

1) Commander Damage: Dogmeat is the Engine of the deck, but also is a fine creature to attack with. One of the weaknesses in the PreCon was a lack of haste, which I believe we have solved. The turn you cast, you can usually grab something off of the ETB Trigger and/or Impulse Draw with Junk tokens.

2) Voltron: Junk is created whenever any of our creatures go to war so there is a strong incentive to spread out the Voltron pieces and swing.

League specific Results:

Week 1: No Wins. It was a rough start to learn to play this deck. It does not seem to have a definitive win condition and it is basically pulled in two different directions. I can see the potential though, so we are making the appropriate Adds/Cuts.

Cuts:

1) Masterwork of Ingenuity - just isn't very useful being limited to "Any Equipment" and not any artifact.

2) Duchess, Wayward Tavernkeep is super slow for what she does.

3) Acquired Mutation - would be a better fit in a dedicated Goad Deck. Pulled.

4) Brass Knuckles - Expensive for a useless equipment piece.

Additions:

1) Kellan, the Fae-Blooded - basically a Stoneforge Mystic and an amazing equipment target/Lord. Kellan is made for this deck.

2) Klothys, God of Destiny - is an Indestructible creature with devotion, is graveyard hate with Mana Dork or Lifegain potential. Necessary for Dogmeat.

3) Sigarda's Aid - an amazing one drop that allows me to flash things in with a free attach for equipment. Auras do not have attach costs.

4) Hexplate Wallbreaker - gives us a body, a boost in stats and most importantly, multiple combat phases.

Week 2:

Result - 1 Win because Mantle of the Ancients is a real powerhouse card.

Adds:

1) Danita Capashen, Paragon - reduces spell cost for BOTH Equipment and Auras. She also has natural First Stroke, Vigilence and Lifelink!

2) Gift of Immortality - a MUST because it keeps Dogmeat casting cost in check.

3) Decimate - because we need more interaction. Some decks play difficult to deal with Artifacts and Enchantments and we always can sacrifice our own Junk if we need to. There are always creatures and lands to target.

4) Sword of Light and Shadow - really solid Lifegain and creature reclusion ability. The protection from board wipes in White and Black is huge. We want Shadow spear, but it is too expensive.

Cuts:

1) Preston Garvey, Minuteman - a Minuteman with no haste. Uggh. Too slow.

2) Bloodforged Battle-Axe - comes down as a one drop, but grants no evasion. So basically it is hard to trigger when opponents have chump blockers.

3) Moira Brown, Guide Author - stay this in a trade binder for when Quest counters become a thing. The Wasteland Survival Guide is useless equipment.

4) Vault 21: House Gambit - I like the card draw, but hate that I have to reveal crap from my hand. This should go in a dedicated Looting Deck.

Results: Decimate single handedly won a game for us. We targeted a player who had Commander out, multilevel Enchantment, a mana rock and a land, shutting them off of blue and putting them so far behind they were not a threat. We went 2-0 on the first day of the tournament and are really rocking and rolling.

Week 3:

Adds:

1) Sram, Senior Edificer - needs to be here for the card draw.

2) Kassandra, Eagle Bearer - we need Hasty Threats and she enables us to grab The Spear of Leonidas.

3) The Spear of Leonidas - offers mode to create a 3/2 Horse, Faithless Loot or gain Double Stroke.

4) Crawlspace - is a solid defense piece when other decks in the meta have 0 problem going wide.

Cuts:

1) Cait, Cage Brawler - cute effect, but it helps the opponent out too. Could be the basis of a different EDH deck style.

2) Perception Bobblehead - pains me to cut a mana rock, but this one has no other ability that is useful since we only have one other Bobble in the deck.

3) Veronica, Dissident Scribe - Menace and looting are nice, but Haste would be preferable. You get junk tokens for Impulse Draw.

4) Junk Jet - just creates junk and adds to the artifact count. Really never pop to double power either.

Final Result; 5th Place. Winner was Esper Yennett, 2nd was Nelly Borca Goad and 3rd was Disa Graveyard re-animator. We actually might have finished 4th if we were not so nice to the Vishgraz Infect player. Either way, it was a fine showing and fun to pilot.
